Chopard just announced the re-edition of a Mille Miglia Racing Colours Collection [CLICK] to celebrate 30 years of sponsoring the Mille Miglia Race, as posted on PURISTSPRO by KIH.
HISTORY
Jacky Ickx and Karl-Friedrich Scheufele 2012 Mille Miglia race
Mr Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, like his father Karl III before him, has been competing in the annual race and sponsored the race since 1988.

The original Mille Miglia "Racing Colors" Collection watches from 2002/2003 were also Mille Miglia chronographs encased in titanium. The case, crown and pushers were made of titanium.

In 2002, the Rosso Corsa edition was introduced and the other colours followed as a set in 2003.
If you bought the set, it came in a mechanics tool box.

They followed the colours originally set for the three Gordon Bennett Cup Races of 1901-1903 with modifications:
Great Britain had to deviate from its national colours of red, white and blue because they had already been taken by USA, Germany, and France respectively.

Italy did not adopt her famous 'Rosso Corsa' until a red Itala won the Peking to Paris race in 1907.

Reputedly, as a concession to Ireland where the 1903 Gordon Bennett Cup race was held (racing was illegal on British public roads at the time), the British adopted 'shamrock green', which became known as British Racing Green.
Another theory is that the winning Napier of 1902 had already been painted olive green, and green was well-established as the colour for locomotives and machinery, industries that Britain led the world in.
Subsequently, Germany's success with the Silver Arrows of Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz made them switch to Speed Silver or Silver Racing as their national racing colour.

Present day colours used for the Racing Colours collection are “Vintage Blue” for France, “Rosso Corsa” for Italy, “British Racing Green”, “Speed Yellow” for Belgium and “Silver Racing” for Germany. The re-editions are in steel cases. They are still mighty pretty.
Although prices have not been revealed, expect them to be about $5,000 each.
Enjoy!

The colour rendition on my camera is not correct as it is a bit more green than that.
But it is darker than the press image below. Imagine somewhere in between....
