CHOPARD Mille Miglia GTS Power Control LIVE Photo

CHOPARD announced a new Watch Collection on 9th March 2015, that will be seen later at Baselworld 2015.
PuristSPro is pleased to bring you a LIVE PICTURE of the new CHOPARD Mille Miglia GTS Power Control watch, in addition to the official photographs.

We recently had a 'Retrospective Summary' of the CHOPARD Mille MIglia Race watches 1997 - 2014.
One of the favourite designs was the 2013 model, that is the basis of the new design.
We speculated that Chopard in-house movements would be the next evolution for the CHOPARD Mille Miglia.

Indeed, that speculation has become reality!  Hip Hip Hooray!

In 2015, Chopard is entirely revamped this grand classic by introducing the Mille Miglia GTS (Grand Turismo Sport) Collection.  This new collection, composed of a three-hand and date chronometer, a power reserve model and a chronograph, sees the introduction of a Chopard movement in two of the three watches.

For first time, the chronometer and power-reserve models will be equipped with a Chopard movement from the workshops of Fleurier Ebauches. The sleek, sophisticated design of these new creations rejuvenates the Classic Racing spirit embodied by the Mille Miglia collection, while remaining true to the identity codes of the models rolled out over the past 25 years.

Since 1988, Chopard has been official timekeeper of “la corsa più bella del mondo” - the annual race from Brescia to Rome and back. The Mille Miglia collection stems from the fascination for classic cars nurtured by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, co-president of Chopard. A collector and active driver, he takes part in the race each year.

Mille Miglia GTS: three models for a complete collection

These three models with their eminently masculine curves are inspired by the classic cars that took part in the race between 1940 and 1957. Their steel cases – featuring featuring a 43 mm diameter for the Automatic and Power Control versions and 44 mm for the Chrono version – are fitted with short, pointed lugs that are carefully tapered to ensure optimal comfort on the wrist, while the sporting nature of these timepieces is enhanced by facetted hands.

The first watch to be unveiled from the new line is the Mille Miglia GTS Power Control, superbly epitomising the “racing” spirit, the high performances and the superlative quality of the Mille Miglia GTS models.

A Chopard movement from the Fleurier Ebauches workshops

At Chopard, the term 'Power Control' refers to a power-reserve indicator. For the first time in its history, a Mille Miglia model is driven by a Chopard movement. Calibre 01.08-C is entirely developed, designed and assembled within the workshops of Fleurier Ebauches. It meets all the quality demands of the Mille Miglia collection and thus reflects the high standards faithfully cherished by Chopard.

The exclusive nature of this watch entirely matches that of the glorious classic cars that take part in this race. Its construction ensures the robustness that is indispensable on a model dedicated to competitive racing. Its automatic winding ensures essential ease of use. Its 60-hour power reserve enables its owner to find it still running smoothly and accurately after a period of rest.

Finally, its certification by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) testifies to the precision of its rating, a must-have attribute for Chopard watches in general and of course for racing drivers. This much-coveted statute is reflected by the “Chronometer” inscription appearing on the dial of the Mille Miglia GTS Power Control.

Contemporary aesthetic and vintage spirit for a Chopard grand classic

Dedicated to Italy’s most famous and closely followed classic car race, the Mille Miglia GTS watches are designed as wristworn auxiliary navigation instruments. The bezel features a graduated black aluminium insert accentuating the sporting nature of the Mille Mille GTS Power Control. Its black dial is a tribute to the aesthetic of vintage car dashboards.

The power-reserve indicator evokes a petrol gauge typical of the 1950s. The date aperture appears in the Mille Miglia red-arrow race logo, a nod to the numbers on the doors and bonnets of the competing cars. The lively, dynamic nature of the race as a whole is symbolised by the distinctive presence of red on the dial, particularly on the minutes track and the seconds hand of the Mille Miglia GTS Power Control. The rubber strap also recalls the racing world and draws inspiration from the Dunlop tyres of classic 1960s cars.

The Mille Miglia GTS Power Control introduces a font characteristic of the new Mille Miglia GTS collection. The dial features oversized 6 and 12 o’clock numerals painted in Superluminova and reminiscent of the dashboards of classic cars that forever preserve the spirit of the “competizione”, dear to the hearts of classic racing enthusiasts.

This is a HUGE day for Chopard! The presence of the Fleurier Ebauches movement in the Mile Miglia truly brings this watch to a new and exciting level for me. And the movement looks quite beautiful. I now want to compare it to, for instance the movement in the 1937, to see what might be ...

Here is a shot of the L.U.C 01.01-L for comparison. And immediately below is the new 01.08 -C of the Mille Miglia: We can definitely see the similarities. One obvious difference is that the 01.01.-L is marked "L.U.C", while the 01.08-C is not. We know that the former begins life in the FLeurier Ebauches fa...

A Mille Miglia to enter the wish list ... I love the Mille Miglia history but I was waiting to Chopard to release one that could "sing" to me. This one is very desirable with this in house movement. Cheers, Nilo

Best Chopard Mille Miglia watch for now....until.... Nilo, The Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Power Control watch is currently the "Top Mille Miglia watch" with in-house movement. It has a subtle 'minor complication' and it is fun to watch the "fuel tank". Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Chronograph movement is outsourc...

With the clues from the Mille Miglia GTS Power Control timerider, Maybe you can imagine what the Mille Miglia GTS Chronograph would look like? There are strong visual cues shown in the 2013 Mille Miglia Race watch and the 2015 Mille Miglia GTS Power Contol watch. An evolution from the 2013 model seem logical....

This a fantastic release!!! Thank you MTF and Ken for sharing it with us! Could the Pro One line be brought back to life using these new cases and ebauches? Only time will tell, but it would be sweet having a dive watch with the design codes of this MM GTS. Chapeau, Chopard and keep...

CHOPARD Superfast Watches - a Retrospective and Prospective Look Chopard has long been associated with vintage automotive sports like the Mille Miglia Race since 1988 and the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique since 2002. For both those events, there are serial collections of eponymous watches, equipped with 3rd party COSC qualified movements. In 2011, Chopard introduced a new name into the sportive watch firmament - the Superfast line - with references to classic racing but in a contemporary case design. They ...
