Emmanuel, known as quattro on WatchProSite, introduces the Oberlin Watch Company and its historically significant 1858 (Underground) Railroad Watch. This article delves into Emmanuel's initial exploration of the brand's unique narrative, which intertwines American abolitionist history with a nod to vintage French pharmaceutical promotional timepieces. His post serves as a vital first look, bringing a previously unmentioned independent brand to the forefront of our community's discussion.

First, that's my home state of Ohio that is etched on the caseback. It's nice to see some connection of Ohio to the watch industry even if it's tiny. It's also nice to see a commemoration of the state's role in the underground railroad. On the watch itself, I like the clean dial and the numeric font, which is new to me but pleasing to the eye. Thanks for sharing this information. M4
is only $458.00 USD, so I guess one can't expect too much...
The font is particularly appealing to me. And I like the story. And these watches are really affordable. Best, Emmanuel
Thanks for sharing Emmanuel! The font on the dial is very unique. I have also never seen “assembled with care in the USA” on the bottom of any dial. The brand is located in my home state, yet I’ve never seen it. See, you can still learn something new every day! 😉
And yes, "assembled with care in the USA" is a very nice touch. This brand is really small and makes very affordable watches: probably the reason why it's been flying under our radar! Best, Emmanuel
I really like the numeral fonts but would have preferred the font on the brand name to be closer to the original, as that fits better with the numbers IMHO. The movement doesn’t bother me too much at this price point - it’s not a watch that will be worn daily, so the lower potential accuracy is no concern 😊👍🏻
