Baruch (gadalex) offers WatchProSite readers an exclusive, up-close look at the Andersen Genève 40th Anniversary Jump Hour in PT950. His exceptional photography captures the intricate details and modern aesthetic of this limited-edition timepiece, providing a perspective often missed in standard reviews. Baruch's work highlights the watch's unique guilloché dial and contemporary design, showcasing why it stands out in the independent watchmaking landscape.

Yesterday I raced down to West London for a rare opportunity to photograph a Svend Andersen timepiece. This particular piece (0/40), belonging to the manufacturer, arrived in London a few days ago and my friend Zeina Dakak of ZDLUX&Co. (Andersen's communications strategists in the UK) invited me to come and photograph this stunning timepiece.

The watch's tour de force is the incredibly modern guilloche pattern that shows incredible variegation depending on the light source. Display shows a jump hour at 12 with minute indication at 6. This incredibly simple strategy allows the full canvas of the dial to remain unimpeded.

The platinum case is beautifully constructed with lug ends extending to create subtle steps on the caseband. The crystal looked to have the slightest of domes and the rehault is almost non-existent; thus the dial is incredibly close to the underside of the crystal maximising the reflection of light off the deco-esque engine turning.

Please note that since this is not a client watch, there are some very minor blemishes visible. It is clear though that the watch displays a very contemporary design if compared to some of Andersen's more classic designs. I think this only works to the atelier's advantage, potentially capturing a new clientele.

My chosen tools were a Sony A7 RII and my trusted Sigma 105mm macro. I also deployed a 24mm Rokkor lens reverse mounted to give me magnification of 2.5:1. The close ups of the dial completely betray what I'm actually photographing!

Hope you enjoy.

Regards, Baruch

I was considering this watch in RG when it first came out. I find it even more compelling in a white metal.

Really like the dial; the solution chosen leads to very little distraction away from the pattern of the guilloché itself. Also like the fact that it combines old world « artisanat » of the guilloche & rose machine with, on the other hand, a pattern that seems very modern. I feel it looks much more contemporary than say, Breguet, in my humble opinion. Beautiful !

And a very timely post as I have been corresponding with the brand about this particular watch. Your photos are better than those taken in notable reviews and I compare this watch to Chopard's rose gold jump hour which has a lovely movement, enamel dial in a limited edition of 100. Some might prefer the Chopard but the deciding factor for me would be the size of the watch - The Chopard being 40mm while the Andersen being a more wearable 38mm (more wearable for me anyway!). In addition, I persona
