SALMANPK initiates a discussion on the Armin Strom Minute Repeater Resonance 12:59, sharing his evolving perspective on the brand after watching an insightful video. He draws parallels between Armin Strom's forward-thinking design philosophy and that of F.P. Journe, positioning Strom as an underrated innovator who reinterprets technical beauty in a modern context. This post invites the community to debate and share their views on Armin Strom's place in independent watchmaking.

I'll be honest, never understood Armin Strom, many friends and fellow Purists are big fans and owners, so out of respect and consideration I kept my mouth shut until now.

Watching the excellent video from Marko made me realize that Armin Strom has the inspired by forward design philosophy of FP Journe. FP Journe is an undisputed legend for me, where his design language has a lot of Parisian Art Nouveau Gilt/Brass Romance especially in his earlier pieces, whereas Armin Strom takes the technical beauty of FP Journe's pieces and reinterprets them in a new and modern way. In that sense I feel he is highly underrated. Agree, Disagree or another perspective?

About the F.P. Journe Chronomètre à Résonance Ref. resonance

The Chronomètre à Résonance represents F.P. Journe's entry in the Souveraine collection, distinguished by its resonance complication. This reference utilizes the principle of resonance between two independent escapements to enhance chronometric precision.

The 40mm case is crafted in 18k rose gold with a fixed bezel and sapphire crystal. The silver dial houses the manual-winding caliber 1499 movement, offering a 42-hour power reserve. Water resistance is rated to 30 meters, and the watch is completed with a leather strap.

This reference appeals to collectors focused on haute horlogerie complications and independent watchmaking. The resonance mechanism positions this piece as a technical showcase within F.P. Journe's manual-winding offerings. Production began in 2000, establishing this as part of the brand's contemporary catalog for collectors seeking advanced chronometric functions.

My favourite AS watch is still their Bahrain special edition with an inset Bahraini pearl that comes with its own certificate of origin. I was fortunate enough to have been invited to their event in Bahrain hosted by their Bahraini AD Prjkt8 @prjkt8 around the time when they launched it. Sweet memories and great Bahraini people! I always had very good and super interesting and insightful conversations with Claude (Greissler) who is the mastermind behind these watches! Also very interesting when

AS has been doing a great job incorporating their resonance complication into various designs and case sizes, but this one takes the cake! Does seem like they've been steadily raising their prices in recent years (no different from most brands to be fair) but if any high horology brand could claim to be historically "underpriced" I'd give my vote to AS...
