I have been fortunate to participate in the APAC a few times before.  I have previously played in Florida at TPC Sawgrass and Turnberry Isle in Aventura.  Liberty National Golf Course in NJ was the venue for 2012, and it did not disappoint.  I'm not sure I have ever stepped foot on to such an impeccable course.  Hitting off the fairway felt like we were hitting off greens at other courses.

The event started with a cocktail reception and dinner brilliantly orchestrated by the AP Staff.  We were split into four teams of 8 golfers, and each team was assigned one pro.  The format for the tournament was a scramble.  The pro was to play 9 holes with each of his team foursomes, and at the end each team would submit a total score for their two groups.

The golf day started with a terrific breakfast.  You have to be selective, because every breakfast option was available!  I tend to eat light before I play so I resisted the custom omlets, breakfast meats, and baked goods.

We were then allotted time to warm up on the range.  The pros warmed up too, and after a short time began their formal clinic.  This was a great opportunity for guests to ask questions and see the answers demonstrated.  One terrific aspect of these particular 4 Ambassadors is that they are all good friends, and have known each other for years.  Of course, all four are currently ranked among the highest in the world (Rory McIlroy, NIR, #1; Lee Westwood, England, #4; Graeme McDowell, NIR, #13; Ian Poulter, England, #26).

AP is well established at Liberty National.  Additional wall clocks are positioned throughout the main building.

Warming up:

Closeup of Ian demonstrating an inside swing plane.  Golfers, take note of that right elbow position... just incredible.

As ATW captured in his post, the views around this golf course are amazing, and certainly unlike anything I have ever seen in Colorado.

Somehow this sight on every teebox was very comforting to me ;-)

Play was suspended due to heavy rain, lightning, and thunder after 12 holes.  As it was to be a lengthy delay, we proceeded with a fabulous luncheon.  At this time we were really treated to a very special moment.  Francois Bennahmias, current GM of AP, was simulcast live from Switzerland alongside a few more of the brand Ambassadors.  There was some incredible banter between the Ambassadors and Francois, and guests at both venues were frequently laughing at the exchanges.

As it turned out, Ian's Blue Team did in fact win the tournament.  I was fortunate to be on that team, and very happy to have played at a solid level.  It did mean I needed to check my only carry-on home, as I needed some extra capacity for the goodies.  Not a bad problem to have smile

All thanks to Audemars Piguet and their incredible staff.  The manner in which they handle every aspect of these large events is incredible... no detail is ever overlooked.  It is always a great feeling to wear an AP, but the way they make you part of their Family is really beyond words...

Awesome POST Michael!

Again, it was an honor to play with you. For those who don't know Michael is a great golfer and even better friend. Too bad we didn't get that wrist shot together! Best, Henry

Henry, thank you so much for the kind words.

As you know, the best part of this crazy passion we share are the friendships that are forged over the years. I am proud to say some of my best friends anywhere have been made right here at PuristSPro and through AP. I certainly include you on that list, and as I told my wife, one of the best parts of this incredible event was finally meeting my long time amigo. Rats, we did forget the dual 25770 shot. Next time for sure! As for the golf, I think you guys caught me on a good day ;-)
