MichaelC's detailed photographic essay on the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Concept Tourbillon 'Companion' offers a critical look at this unique collaboration. While acknowledging his personal reservations about the artist KAWS, MichaelC meticulously highlights the watch's innovative materials, case design, strap, and movement, inviting a deeper appreciation for AP's horological ambition beyond the artistic partnership. His post sparks a compelling discussion on the intersection of high horology and contemporary art.

The artist KAWS is not my personal cup of tea, but I find interest in the materials, case, strap, and movement.  I do credit the creativity of the figure being trapped inside the case, seemingly trying to get out, while his heart beats away.  But it is everything else about the watch that interest me more.

I don't understand why a brand launches an entirely new watch and movement in collaboration with an artist.  I think AP would be better served by releasing such a creation for themselves.  But there is no denying they went all in here, instead of just changing a dial or materials.

despite not personally caring for this artist's work. This newly redesigned Concept from AP is my favorite watch design they have ever made. Unsurprisingly so, since the original, barely wearable, Concept was likewise my firm favorite. Thanks a bunch for the pictures, cheers, Filip

the bottom of the creature's chin looks like a scrotum sack with each individual testicle just poking out-sorry the case looks good but that thing is ridiculous
