ClockOnWrist makes a memorable first official post, celebrating a birthday and the acquisition of a brand new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore. His journey, from considering a Rolex Yacht-Master II to ultimately choosing the AP, offers a candid look into a collector's decision-making process, highlighting the allure and wrist presence of different luxury timepieces. The post is a vibrant personal milestone shared with the community.
Definitely wasn’t easy getting hold of this watch as I had some payment issues in Bangkok and had to return to China where I’m working and found a dealer who could get this watch for me from Singapore (where I’m actually from…) and finally have it on my hand!

The Panerai Luminor PAM1080 is a distinctive interpretation within the Luminor collection, characterized by its specific aesthetic and technical configuration. This reference is notable for its particular dial execution and case finishing, which set it apart from other contemporary Luminor models. It represents a specific period in the brand's production, appealing to collectors who appreciate variations in design and material application within the established Luminor framework.
This Luminor model typically features a robust case construction, consistent with the series' design principles. The movement housed within is engineered for reliability and precision, offering a practical power reserve suitable for daily wear. The crystal protecting the dial is designed for clarity and durability, ensuring legibility and protection for the intricate dial details.
For collectors, the PAM1080 offers a specific point of interest due to its limited availability and unique characteristics. Its appeal lies in its particular combination of elements, which may include subtle differences in dial texture, numeral application, or case treatment compared to more common Luminor references. This makes it a sought-after piece for those assembling a comprehensive collection of Panerai variations.
Happy birthday 🎉🎂
It fits you quite well. I wear both 44mm and 42mm Royal Oak Offshores. The 42 is absolutely the classic size for the Offshore, and you have chosen a great dial. PS, don't worry... we will not rat you out to your wife for the comment which would no doubt get you in huge trouble!! LOL.
the 42 fits great and hopefully this time next year i'll be able to grace a 44! thanks for not ratting me out otherwise i'll be posting in the Swatch section and my wife will be posting a new bag instead..
ClockOnWrist, Welcome properly for the 1st sharing post! It's all happening at once...watch, whisky, birthday, PuristS posting........ Take your time and Take a breath. Don't go rushing into roller coaster decisions. It is interesting why you switched from a Rolex to AP. We know the how and when but they are two different brands in many ways. What features of the Audemars Piguet made the decision? Apart from the payment problems in BKK.... Regards, MTF
I wanted to write my whole buying experience in my original post but i was worried it'll turn into a journal.. My original intention was to buy a new daily beater for my birthday as a reward to myself for being such a ridiculously awesome, charming and caring husband/father! (MichaelC, you can tell my wife i said that ) I've gotten bored of Panerai after all these years and was looking around for something else that could take abuses but one thing I look for in a watch which is an absolute must
