Although this is my second post, it’s technically my first as far as sharing my own watch goes.

Today’s definitely an eventful day for me as I’m sharing my first brand new AP (used to own a used diver but sold it within 3days of owning it when the offer was too good and it came with a good bottle of whiskey) AND today’s my birthday smile

I’ve been a lurker of the forum for a long time and have finally decided to brave the cyber world..

It’s funny how this AP even came about if anybody saw my first post a couple of weeks back when I was asking for contacts in Bangkok for a Rolex YM2. I was absolutely smitten by that watch, the one in Steel with Rosegold accent. I thought that was the most beautiful Rolex. I was originally considering the New Daytona but when I tried it on in Tokyo several weeks back i simply couldn’t get used to its presence..by that I mean its dimension and weight. I know it’s a silly way to judge a watch but I’ve been a Paneristi for almost 10 years now (also a lurker) and I couldn’t get used to the size of Daytona despite how good it looks when I photographed it on my hand.

I finally located a dealer in BKK that had a YM2 and dam it was gorgeous…problem was he also had several AP ROOs displaying in his evil glass case of temptations..fast forward all the emotional roller coaster and decision making agony what you see below is what I finally bought smile Definitely wasn’t easy getting hold of this watch as I had some payment issues in Bangkok and had to return to China where I’m working and found a dealer who could get this watch for me from Singapore (where I’m actually from…) and finally have it on my hand!

I have to say the new iPhone takes some amazing pictures and most importantly it comes with an idiot-proof editing function! No wonder my wife’s been looking amazing in photos hehe.

About the Panerai Luminor Ref. PAM1080

The Panerai Luminor PAM1080 is a distinctive interpretation within the Luminor collection, characterized by its specific aesthetic and technical configuration. This reference is notable for its particular dial execution and case finishing, which set it apart from other contemporary Luminor models. It represents a specific period in the brand's production, appealing to collectors who appreciate variations in design and material application within the established Luminor framework.

This Luminor model typically features a robust case construction, consistent with the series' design principles. The movement housed within is engineered for reliability and precision, offering a practical power reserve suitable for daily wear. The crystal protecting the dial is designed for clarity and durability, ensuring legibility and protection for the intricate dial details.

For collectors, the PAM1080 offers a specific point of interest due to its limited availability and unique characteristics. Its appeal lies in its particular combination of elements, which may include subtle differences in dial texture, numeral application, or case treatment compared to more common Luminor references. This makes it a sought-after piece for those assembling a comprehensive collection of Panerai variations.

Welcome here, and big Congratulations!

It fits you quite well. I wear both 44mm and 42mm Royal Oak Offshores. The 42 is absolutely the classic size for the Offshore, and you have chosen a great dial. PS, don't worry... we will not rat you out to your wife for the comment which would no doubt get you in huge trouble!! LOL.

The first cut is the deepest

ClockOnWrist, Welcome properly for the 1st sharing post! It's all happening at once...watch, whisky, birthday, PuristS posting........ Take your time and Take a breath. Don't go rushing into roller coaster decisions. It is interesting why you switched from a Rolex to AP. We know the how and when but they are two different brands in many ways. What features of the Audemars Piguet made the decision? Apart from the payment problems in BKK.... Regards, MTF

You asked for it...so don't hold you breath..

I wanted to write my whole buying experience in my original post but i was worried it'll turn into a journal.. My original intention was to buy a new daily beater for my birthday as a reward to myself for being such a ridiculously awesome, charming and caring husband/father! (MichaelC, you can tell my wife i said that ) I've gotten bored of Panerai after all these years and was looking around for something else that could take abuses but one thing I look for in a watch which is an absolute must
