Jenjames shares a captivating close-up of his wife's Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore, a piece he acquired for her in 2015. This article delves into the intriguing reasons why a cherished timepiece might become a 'safe queen' and explores the community's perspective on watch wear and personal style. Jenjames's post sparks a discussion on women's preferences for larger watches and the beauty of a well-worn timepiece.

G’day!

I was browsing my photo album and came across this photo couple of days ago and I really like this close up shot on my Mrs wrist..

It is one of her favourite piece. I bought for her back in 2015 (mid 2015 if I remember correctly)

However, lately she hardly use it because ... (Honestly, I have no clue why she not using it anymore  😅) .. anyhow.. her current daily watch is the RM016.

So this is one of the safe queen.

Anyway .. Just to share a photo of this relatively rare piece. 😉

About the Richard Mille Automatic Extra Flat Ref. RM016

The RM016 Automatic Extra Flat represents Richard Mille's approach to slimmer profile automatic timepieces within their contemporary collection. This reference was produced from 2008 to 2018, positioning it as a more understated option compared to the brand's typically robust sport-oriented models.

The 38mm titanium case houses the RM016 automatic caliber with a 45-hour power reserve. The watch features a skeletonized dial that reveals the movement architecture, protected by sapphire crystal. Water resistance is rated to 50 meters, and the timepiece is fitted with a rubber strap. The fixed bezel maintains clean lines consistent with the extra flat designation.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking Richard Mille's technical approach in a more restrained package. The titanium construction and skeletonized display cater to enthusiasts who appreciate visible mechanics, while the 38mm case size and extra flat profile offer versatility for various wearing occasions. The decade-long production run indicates steady demand within the RM catalog.

YUM. I love the use of forged carbon on this watch, perhaps more here than any other one they have used it for.

I have tried on my brother’s AP Concept Chronograph many many times and did worn it for a month. Love it.

Awesome piece James, but surely it must be far too big for your good lady wife? It is a huge watch lug to lug.

And that applies equally to men and women. As an example, my wife’s favorite watches are her 44mm Rose Gold Offshore, 44mm Team Alinghi Offshore and her URWERK 110. I have to admit, they look great on her and she carries them off very well! NickO

Since you mentioned APRO44 and URWERK.. Another shot from far.. She wanted the UR210.. tried it on twice in the she think it’s just too big for her. Bought the UR-T8 instead. Sorry I don’t have a photo of the watch on her wrist with me n the watch is not in this place too. We are in a covid19 lockdown. Stay safe 🍻 HAGWE James
