Announced on May 27th the week prior to IGOTT2 as a tribute to celebrate the 10th anniversary of ThePuristS, Audemars Piguet will be producing a limited edition of only 10 pieces of the Royal Oak P10 (for more details, Please click here ).  What could be more fitting for the special occasion than the legendary Royal Oak?

Like the other PuristS special editions and P10 watches there are subtle but unique enhancements made.  The Audemars Piguet P10 anniversary edition starts as the iconic Royal Oak jumbo with a 39mm diameter stainless steel case similar to the current production model 15202.  However the P10 version has a special tantalum bezel which gives the watch a slightly dark gray contrast to the brighter brushed steel case.  The signature hex screws on the bezel are in white gold.  Case thickness is a mere 8mm thick.

Although some of my pics the dial appears to be black it is actually a dark blue color (almost bluish-grey) with the grande tapisserie pattern.  The baton shaped hour markers are made of white gold and are luminous.

Turn the watch over to the movement side and let's take a look at the visual differences between the P10 and the standard 15202.
The PuristS P10 Royal Oak is paired with the legendary caliber 2120 movement which is half skeletonized with a dark anthracite rhodium base plate and contrasting bright rhodium semi-skeletonize movement parts.  I love skeletonized movements (my favorite is the Audemars Piguet 25829 Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Skeleton which is also based on the 2120 movement) and AP does a fine job with the skeletonizing and finishing.  The dark and bright rhodium parts really sparkle and is very aesthetically pleasing when seen in person.
The 2120 movement is a great choice on the P10 since it's considered a landmark movement and known to be reliable and accurate.  It's one of the thinness automatic movements ever made.

The customized 21 carat yellow gold rotor has been designed with the PuristS P10 anniversary logo.

The tapered bracelet is also in a alternating brushed and polished stainless steel with tantalum center bracelet links. Just like the tantulum bezel, the tantalum central links really add a nice visual contrast and noticeable difference.  The single fold deployant is in stainless steel and compliments the thin bracelet.  I have a small wrist and it fits comfortably with one link added on the near side.

The Audemars Piguet P10 Royal Oak is available as a limited edition of only 10 pieces.  Who are the lucky few in the PuristS community to pick one of these up?  The Royal Oak in my pics is the pre-production prototype (number 1 of 10) but I heard that deliveries will be coming very soon in the next few months.  I hope to see some on-the-wrist reviews here on PuristSPro and ThePuristS smile

About the Audemars Piguet Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 15202 YG Ref. 15202

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak "Jumbo" ref. 15202 is a significant reference within the Royal Oak collection, known for its close adherence to the original 1972 design. It maintains the distinctive slim profile and integrated bracelet that defined the initial Royal Oak, distinguishing it from other Royal Oak models that introduced different sizes or complications. This reference is particularly valued for its historical continuity and minimalist approach to the Royal Oak aesthetic.

This reference features a 39mm case, typically crafted from yellow gold, with a thickness of 8.1mm. It is fitted with a sapphire crystal and offers a water resistance of 50 meters. Powering the watch is the self-winding Caliber 2121, a movement known for its slimness and a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The dial is presented in blue, complementing the yellow gold case and bracelet.

For collectors, the 15202 represents a direct link to the Royal Oak's origins, appealing to those who prioritize historical accuracy and understated design. Its production run from 2012 to 2019 makes it a sought-after reference among enthusiasts of the "Jumbo" lineage. The combination of its classic dimensions, integrated bracelet, and the Caliber 2121 solidifies its position as a key reference in the Audemars Piguet catalog.

The clincher might have been a tantalum rotor! I say this not knowing if it is even possible.

Tantalum definitely has the mass needed to swing the rotor. Do you think it would give the watch enough contrast when viewed from the caseback? Regards, ED-209
