In this compelling discussion, sea_brownie, a long-time Audemars Piguet collector, grapples with a significant horological decision: trading his AP Concept for an A. Lange & Söhne Triple Split Chronograph. His introspection on how his personal style and perception of luxury have evolved over a decade offers a relatable entry point for many collectors considering a shift in their watch preferences. This thread explores the nuanced factors that influence such high-stakes trades, moving beyond brand loyalty to personal resonance and evolving tastes.

These are two amazing pieces. For me I would pick/choose the Lange based on my preference for such peice over the AP.
Love or hate the new Black Panther, it is a beautiful 42mm Concept case in titanium. Obviously, more of these will come in other versions, and they will fit most people better. Yes, get out of AP and get the Lange. That is my advice to you.
I see the dilemma, they both have something in common that appeals to you. Neither move will disappoint. However, the Lange may offer more utility. Thrown on a canvas strap, the Lange can be quite dressed down. But that Concept is so cool.
At this price, try before you buy. The weight, rather than the size, might be the biggest difference in wearing comfort, and I suspect the difference is quite large. Cheers, John
In this case, per your question, and reading your recent feelings about this brand, I would jump. There is nothing wrong with that. Even if you don't trade or move into the AL&S (which BTW, hard to do better than the one you showed, amazing timepiece!), I would leave AP. It's very clear that those of us who are not bothered by the Marvel collaboration and watch are in a real minority. We must be < 10%. I have no problem with that, I make my own decisions and don't care what anyone else thinks
However, there is no right or wrong. Listen to you4 heart. Just to add a point though. All watch collectors/maniacs have made our shares of mistakes trading watches that cannot be easily replaced. So do keep that in mind... Good luck
