In a bold move that challenges traditional collector sensibilities, pfang56 explores the controversial practice of applying protective film to a luxury timepiece. This article delves into his personal experiment with safeguarding an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo, sparking a lively debate among enthusiasts about preserving a watch's pristine condition versus embracing its natural patina. His initial observations and the community's diverse reactions offer valuable insights into this polarizing topic.
Anyway, I just installed a set on the case and bracelet of my jumbo. Take a look at the below.
Over the years I've learned to wear all Stainless watches, and your model in SS is wonderful, for everyday wear. I only wear my 18kt. pieces for dress up days and nights. Just some food for thought. Lovey watch for sure. No stickers - Please!
I'll make sure nobody breathes around my watch as well. It might get a green patina.
If I were you, I'd take the "sheath" off and invite your exquisite piece to the world. The more scratches, the better! Be well!
… in some places, even before getting married 😁
I was wondering where my sudden interest came with plastic wrap. I just visited my parents home and I realised how much of our furniture remains under plastic wrap...photos taken from the web below for fun. I didn't take any photos but who else had this experience growing up?? Peter
You're just going to have to buy two! I admit that I suffer from the same phobia... We all want to retain that "new car smell" for as long as possible. My bracelets worry me the most, so I might be able to live with parts of the case unprotected... However, if applying the tape allows you to actually enjoy such a valuable piece, then I'd say go for it. I own a 6-digit submariner and a 5-digit yachtmaster .. Where can I find a set?
