ED209 provides a detailed report on the Audemars Piguet event at Westime in West Hollywood, offering a glimpse into the brand's latest offerings and the vibrant atmosphere of a luxury watch gathering. His coverage highlights key pieces like the Royal Oak Openworked and the Extra-Thin Tourbillon, capturing the essence of community engagement and brand experience.

The PuristSPro Team joined Westime for a cocktail reception with Audemars Piguet.  The Westime flagship boutique located on the famed Sunset Strip in West Hollywood California provided the perfect setting to showcase the latest time pieces from Audemars Piguet.  We arrived near the start of the event in the early evening and found the store covered with AP logos.  Inside the store there was a large screen with animations of engineering diagrams of the Royal Oak bracelet and case.  Several glass cases were presented near the outside windows with mainly Royal Oaks including a gold openworked 15305 and forged carbon diver.

All the guests were greeted by these two lovely ladies.  After checking in, we were asked to select one of the keys from the snow globe bowl.

Why a key?  Well, during the reception we all had a chance to win a pair of Royal Oak cufflinks.  Awesome!  I love the Royal Oak ring that I wear on a daily basis and was thinking that a nice pair of matching Royal Oak cufflinks would be a nice addition to my wardrobe.   There was a single display on the left corner of the Westime store that showed the prize.

We only had once chance at winning, so I walked over to the nice lady assisting with the cufflinks.  Hope we picked the winning key!

Guests were trying their luck with their keys throughout the night, unfortunately my key didn't open up the case but I'm sure the lucky winner is enjoying the beautiful Royal Oak cufflinks.

While we made our way over to the other side of the store we stopped by to sample some of the tasty hors d'oeuvres

At the bar, the mixologists created special cocktails just for the Audemars Piguet event.  Double Cross vodka had specially labeled bottles of their vodka with Westime and AP logos.

Right after the event started the entire store began filling up with guests.  We slowly made our way over to the opposite side of Westime for the new Audemars Piguet mini-boutique area.

Several glass display cases along the hallway were mainly Royal Oaks.  The one that caught my eye is the 26510 extra thin tourbillon with a hand wound caliber 2924 movement.  It is available in stainless steel but I love the combination of the rose gold with the dark blue dial.  I still prefer the 39mm sized case, but for the 26510 the 41mm diameter was well proportioned and provides an excellent view of the tourbillon.

The past few months I've been thinking about adding another AP to my small collection and have been considering either the 15305 or the 15707 Diver.  For the Diver I just wish there was a blue version, ...maybe SIHH 2014?  There was a forged carbon version with the yellow accents (which I'm sure our TimeOut Moderator would be excited to see).

The newly created mini-boutique dedicated to Audemars Piguet watches was located in the back corner of Westime.  It had a nice intimate feel (but was crowded during the event).  The adjacent walls were filled with the Royal Oak and Jules Audemars collections.

Very nicely appointed details like this leather bound bin with embossed AP logos.

Our swag bags included a mini catalog with the 2013/2014 collection.

There were displays for the women's Royal Oak collections with lots of versions in precious stones and combinations of case metals and strap options.

And I spent most of the time handling some of the special pieces that were being shown during the event.  I noticed that there was a lot of interest in the rose gold Offshore chronograph.

But for me there were two pieces that I really wanted to handle in person.  The first is the Royal Oak 26603 Equation of Time.  I like the overall layout of the dial but the 42mm size is a little bit to large for me, but it does look really nice with the dial layout.

And the other piece is the stunning Royal Oak Concept GMT Tourbillon.  I'll post more pics and video of this watch in a separate thread, but here's a teaser pic for now.

Thanks again to the wonderful staff at Westime for this event showcasing Audemars Piguet.

Regards,

About the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Ref. 15305

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak reference 15305 is a notable variant within the Royal Oak line, distinguished by its openworked dial and movement, offering a direct view into the intricate mechanics. This reference represents a more elaborate and technically complex interpretation of the standard Royal Oak, appealing to collectors who appreciate haute horlogerie and the art of skeletonization. It was produced in limited quantities, making it a less common sight compared to its solid-dial counterparts. The openworked design allows for an appreciation of the finishing and architecture of the movement, a hallmark of Audemars Piguet's craftsmanship.

The watch features a 39 mm case crafted from 18k yellow gold, maintaining the classic Royal Oak proportions. It houses the self-winding Caliber 3120, which is meticulously openworked and finished to expose its components. The movement provides a power reserve of 60 hours. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, and the watch is water-resistant to 50 meters, suitable for everyday wear. The fixed octagonal bezel, a signature element of the Royal Oak, is also in 18k yellow gold.

This reference appeals to collectors seeking a Royal Oak with an enhanced level of mechanical artistry and exclusivity. Its openworked nature sets it apart from more common Royal Oak models, positioning it as a piece that highlights Audemars Piguet's technical prowess in movement decoration and design. The 18k yellow gold construction further emphasizes its premium status. While not a double-signed piece as mentioned in the collector's post, the 15305 stands on its own as a significant openworked Royal Oak.

Westime is a wonderful AP authorized dealer. Very professional. I would also like to add a Diver to my collection Ed. Of the models that have been offered so far, the carbon/ceramic/yellow would be my choice. However, I can imagine many variations that I might enjoy more, and one with blue and white is certainly one of them. Thanks for the report!

Wonderful coverage of a fun evening. As a result my collection of four APs looks like it might soon be expanding to five.
