Commemorating something basic and meandering today - the Ball Cleveland Express.
May not be regarded in the same league as those “Trinity” or big names (which we usually see here) or out there, it does however fits into one's grab and go life component / beater. Be it traveling, working, conducting activities, or just lazing around. Further to having the luxury of being told the time, day, and date, which I am getting out of it:
Unlavish/ Humble but certainly reliable.
Numerically legible.
In addition to its reliability, this piece is also extremely versatile - its works just as well and fine in total (emphasis) darkness. It has 15 micro gas tubes.
Shock and water resistance, durable, and rugged!
Complete with basic functions - Time, Day, and Date.
Handsome, simple, and balanced in modern standards (41mm in diameter).
Accurate (Chronometer certified COSC). And protected with anti reflective sapphire crystal.
What more can I ask for.
Also come to realise that this piece takes good care of me (and not the other way round like some other "grail" pieces), all the time – with this, one does not need to be overly concerned about daily exposures, dirt, moisture, water, perspiration, desk-diving shocks etc, without compromising the luxury of being told the time (ie wearing this piece).
Indeed a reliable, and staunch partner, and life-witness.
Hopefully, I am able to aptly reciprocate (or “rewarding back to”) this piece, by sharing its commendable presence to fellow purists.
Thanks for looking and for your time.

A really "easy" wearing watch to go along with other more "complicated" pieces in any collection. My blue one says hello!
Value for value a Ball watch is tops. Cheers , thanks for sharing your cleveland. Geross
Here's a Ball I grab on weekends. (Yes I realise how that sounds 😊👍🏻)
I also like the clasp on the deployant. Kurt
And I’m glad this is your “chosen” daily partner. As you’ve rightly pointed out, it gets very tiresome when we have to baby our watches. They’re supposed to serve us and not the other way around. Nice piece you have there for all the reasons you’ve pointed out and I especially like the deployant. Nifty design and well hidden.
Thank you Richard. Saw your latest post on your Grand Seiko 305 too. Stunning piece.
