Amanico provides a comprehensive first look at Breguet's 2018 collection, highlighting significant updates to both the Classique and Marine lines. His initial impressions offer valuable context for understanding the brand's strategic direction, particularly the bold redesign of the Marine series. This overview serves as an essential reference for collectors assessing Breguet's contemporary offerings and their evolution.

A quick overview on these 2 lines, unveiled this year.

The Classique line, very much Breguet, with a time only and a tourbillon.

The Classique Time Only is so called Extra Plate, with its 38 mm case, whose height is 5, 45 mm. Not the thinner, for sure, but quite spectacular in the real.

The Classique Tourbillon is 42 mm big, and 7, 45 mm high.

Then we have THE novelty of the year, for Breguet, who revisited the Marine in a deep way: The Marine, 40 mm big, the Alarme Musicale, 40 mm big, too, and the biggest, the Chronograph, 42, 3 mm big.

The Marine:

In titanium, surprisingly wiser:

In Rose Gold, somewhere in between the titanium and the white gold, in terms of character:

The Marine Chronograph:

Rose gold:

Titanium:

The Alarme Musicale:

Rose Gold:

Titanium:

These 3 Marine are avalaible in rose gold, with a silvered gold dial, in white gold, with a blue dial, and in titanium, with a slate grey dial. The blue and the grey dial are made in gold, too.

The Marine and the Marine Chronograph are 100 meters water resistant, while the Alarme Musicale is 50 meters water resistant.

The Titanium was never used in the Marine Family.

All the movements are automatic ( Classique and Marine ).

Here is a family picture:

While the Classique offers are easily linked to Breguet, the new Marine collection has been totally revisited. The case, the lugs, the decoration of the dial, the indices...Exite the Grande Date for a simple date. The only thing which doesn't change is... The set of hands.

No doubt that it will take some time to digest the new Marine line, before being able to give a final judgement on these pieces.

An in the real contact with these watches is mandatory, to do so.

Disoriented we are, but  disappointed?

I will reserve my judgement till I see them in the metal.

Best,

Nicolas

the Titanium is my favorite. Powerful sublime character. If I may share my adoration. I adore chronograph and this Breguet Marine Chronograph is 99.9% perfect (without date) even damn sexy compare to other chrono due to my addiction to asymentry. Nonethess the Musicale is my favorite. It is extraordinary, uniquely gorgeous. The perfection is not just on the dial irregular balance of shapes and ratio. but also the perfect placement of everything to the button. IMHO the rubber strap works best wit

It's the Marine equivalent of the Classique Tsar - alarm and dual time. Thanks for the heads up. Jim

I’m afraid I’ve already made my judgement. The Classiques are, as ever, gorgeous but the Marines - oh dear. The radical new design of the dials just don’t do it for me. I had a Marine Big Date which was a fine watch and managed to look sporty whilst still unmistakably Breguet. It will be interesting to see how they do. Regards Kev.

don't go well together in my mind. There should have been either simple markers for the indices or Arabic numerals, that is just me!

Time titanium maybe one of my all time favorite designs. Minimalist with character. Can’t wait to see these in the metal.

There aren't terrible and I may warm to a version over time, but right now, ugh. The back gets rid of the guilloche rotor as well. I will say, however, that the lugs, which seem to be a point of criticism online, aren't bad at all in person. I've tried on last year's kickoff to the new Marine line, the tourbillon perpetual calendar, equation of time marchant. The lugs don't bother me at all. Also: No bracelet for this line...that's interesting.
