This exploration highlights the subtle yet significant differences that can make a watch an object of prolonged desire.

There are a few watches I've tried on many times but never come around to actually buying (yet). Please share some watches you kept coming back to, from any brand, either to eventually buy... or not (yet). Edit: adding images! For the blue enamel, can you tell which is the prototype and which is the final version? I guess I should say I don't mind the date window as I actually like having it (it's actually that I don't mind if it's not there).

About the Breguet Classique Ref. 5177

The Breguet Classique reference 5177 represents an automatic entry within the Classique collection, distinguished by its 38mm case proportions and rose gold construction. This reference utilizes automatic movement technology within the traditional Classique aesthetic framework.

The 38mm case is crafted from 18k rose gold and houses an automatic movement. The silver dial provides contrast against the warm gold case material. Sapphire crystal protects the dial surface, while the watch maintains 30 meters of water resistance. The bezel design remains fixed in position.

Reference 5177 appeals to collectors seeking automatic movement functionality within traditional dress watch proportions. The 38mm case size positions this reference for those preferring mid-sized case dimensions, while the rose gold construction and silver dial combination offers specific aesthetic preferences within the broader Classique automatic range.

Looks like Breguet is bringing the blue enamel to a number of models, so a 5277 or 5207 or 7147 or 7787, etc., will all have no date window. Really any of those would be sweet.

the nice think about this model is the case size...others beef up to 40mm !

You're completely right about the 7147 being 40mm, but it is 7mm thick, so quite thin.

In the end, also because of the scarcity of Patek 5177 pictures, I came to like these Breguets -- and their blue enamel dials -- quite a lot! Thanks for sharing.

And here's one that I keep going back to, again and again and again...... This will be mine .... at some time or other...
