Arnohk seeks community input on a significant Breguet acquisition, weighing the aesthetic and wearability of yellow gold versus white gold for two retro-style timepieces. His post delves into the historical context of Breguet's design and the practicalities of integrating a luxury watch into a casual wardrobe. This discussion offers valuable insights for collectors considering Breguet's classic designs and their everyday versatility.

The Breguet Héritage reference 5707 represents a contemporary expression within the brand's Héritage collection. This reference features an oval case configuration measuring 42x35mm, distinguishing it from traditional round case designs commonly found in the collection.
The case is crafted from 18k rose gold and houses an automatic movement. The silver dial provides contrast against the warm gold case material. A sapphire crystal protects the dial surface, while the watch maintains 30-meter water resistance. The bezel is fixed in design.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking a precious metal timepiece with classical proportions. The oval case dimensions and rose gold construction position it as a dress-oriented piece within the Héritage lineup. The automatic movement eliminates manual winding requirements, making it suitable for regular wear despite its formal aesthetic orientation.
When choosing a metal for the watch, the first thing that comes to my mind is the skin tone of the wearer. If you are caucasian, I would suggest white gold. If you are tanned, Malay or Filipino, I would suggest rose gold as it will blend well with your skin tone. If you are Chinese, I would go for yellow or white gold. I assume you have tried on both the watches because Breguet's straight lugs would make either watch wear quite large. All the best in your decision making and happy 40th!!
I love its dial lay-out and it is for me a classic. About the case material, it is a matter of taste: YG is very consistent with Breguet style WG is easier to wear in any context... It is up to you! Fx
The blue moon phase makes the dial pop and the date sub-dial is more classic looking than the date window.
classic styled Breguet. I love a moon phase also. The WG is easiest to wear and more versatile in my opinion. In WG the watch is very “crisp” and the blue moons looks great against it. Good luck and whatever you decide you will be well served and I’m sure happy with such a beautiful timepiece. Good luck!
I love the 7 versions of guilloche and always drawn to the double crowns of an alarm. No bad decisions either way.
For a moon phase, I would look at the charming 7337 or 7787. I wear yg, it adds a little class to a dressed-down look. On a strap it's not too much (a yg bracelet is what pushes it over the edge for me). Wg is charming and nice, no wrong choices here!
