Tempocalypse showcases his Breguet Marine Ref. 5817, highlighting a popular customization: switching from the original black rubber strap to a blue one. His photo essay demonstrates how this subtle change enhances the watch's aesthetic, drawing out the heat-blued elements of the dial and hands, and proving that manufacturer strap choices aren't always the final word for collectors.

The Reference 5817 represents Breguet's Marine Automatic collection in a 39mm configuration with precious metal construction. This reference positions itself within the brand's nautical-themed lineup as an automatic timepiece combining traditional marine aesthetics with contemporary proportions.
The 39mm case is constructed from 18k rose gold and features a fluted bezel design. A silver dial provides the face of the timepiece, protected by sapphire crystal. The automatic movement provides self-winding functionality, while the case construction offers water resistance to 100 meters depth.
This reference appeals to collectors seeking a precious metal sports watch with marine-inspired design elements. The rose gold case material and fluted bezel treatment distinguish this reference within the Marine Automatic range. The 39mm case diameter provides contemporary wrist presence while maintaining versatility across different wearing occasions.
And yes, I agree, blue suits very well! Thank you. Nicolas
Nice pictures indeed! Thanks for sharing with us. And enjoy your beautiful blue that might last longer than this view onto the see. (...don\'t tell me you are resident there...) Best, Kolosstt
... though you may console yourself that the island/city where I normally live and work is a bit less picturesque!
I always wondered why watch manufacturers would spend so much time for the design of their timepieces, only to ruin the product with their poverty of imagination when it comes to the accessories. The dial of the Breguet Marine lives from the carefully heat-blued hands, so a strap in matching colour should be a matter of course. I am glad to see that you corrected the manufacturer's error. Regards, Marcus
Beautiful photos. I love all the blue colors: the water, the strap and the markers on the dial.
The black has never disappointed me but the blue looks cool. hagwe Bill
