quattro's detailed exposition of the Breguet Marine Hora Mundi 5555 offers an invaluable first look at a significant release in Breguet's 250th-anniversary celebrations. His post meticulously breaks down the intricate dial craftsmanship and the innovative personalization options, providing a foundational understanding for collectors and enthusiasts. This article synthesizes community reactions to highlight the watch's artistic merits and technical features.

The Breguet 250th Anniversary reference commemorates the birth year of Abraham-Louis Breguet. This limited edition series was introduced to honor the founder's legacy and the brand's heritage of horological innovation. It represents a significant commemorative release, often featuring design elements that pay homage to historical Breguet timepieces, distinguishing it from standard production models through its specific aesthetic and limited availability. These anniversary editions are typically sought after for their historical context and the craftsmanship associated with special Breguet releases.
This particular reference features a round case, often crafted from precious metals, housing a finely finished mechanical movement. The case diameter is typically in a classic size, suitable for a dress watch. The crystal protecting the dial is sapphire, providing clarity and scratch resistance. The movement within is a testament to Breguet's traditional watchmaking, offering a power reserve consistent with high-quality mechanical calibers.
Collectors are drawn to the 250th Anniversary edition for its direct connection to the brand's origins and its status as a special commemorative piece. It appeals to those who appreciate historical significance and limited production runs. The watch fits into the broader Breguet catalog as a tribute piece, distinct from the brand's contemporary collections, and often serves as a focal point for collectors interested in the brand's heritage and special editions.
And as always impressive post by you Emmanuel. 👍🏻 Enjoy!
Like you, I find this watch impressive and I think it must be quite something to see in real life. Best, Emmanuel
I was invited last month at the Bréguet Boutique at New Bond Street (London) and we had the privilege of chatting with the enamel artist who makes these fantastic dials, true handmade works of art. It’s was such a unique experience many thanks to Ahmed the boutique manager for the invitation. I will also post another thread about the piece de souscription that was on display there.
I'm very much looking forward to reading your post about the Souscription. Best, Emmanuel
But the dial seems very impressive, here. And for whatever reason I've got a soft spot for the Marine line and think it deserves more credit than it does. Best, Emmanuel
The dial is just incredible with so much fine detail and craftsmanship involved in its making I think the fact a lucky owner can choose the cities he wants is also a great idea. I really think this watch is all about the dial and they should have fitted a closed case back as there really is not much to see of the movement. Marc
