Over the years, I have graduated from collecting Patek Philippe watches and now focus on independent brands especially after being less than impressed by Patek's new models over the last decade. The only other big brand that I would consider buying a watch from is Cartier as I feel, like it or not, this brand is the King of watch design. Their movements may be nothing to shout about compared to Patek or the high end independents but I salute their design team. Perhaps I should be saluting their design team from a century ago because many of Cartier designs are relaunches from that era.

Here are the four Cartier watches currently on my wish list and which my name is down for, any of which would be a welcome addition to my small collection. Which is your favourite among these four?!

The tank guichet in rose gold which would blend best against my skin tone. This is arguably the most difficult watch to get allocation for among my four choices.

The recently launched yellow gold Cartier cloche. I especially like the Breguet numerals and Breguet hands on this model.

The yellow gold Tank Cintree. An iconic watch with those alluring Breguet hands.

The Cartier Panthere watch in 36mm hence very wearable and spotting an emerald in the crown instead of the usual sapphire. A nice touch to match the eye of the Panther.

I would go for the Cintree, which I find the most elegant of the four. I like the concept of the guichet but the numbers are too small for my liking, not ideal with dwindling eyesight. The cloche does nothing for me when on or off the wrist. The Panthere is nice no doubt but it doesn't sing to me, I would be unlikely to wear it. The Cintree however is elegant, easy to read and does not try too hard, that would be my choice. Good luck with your dilemma and keep us posted!

And keeping fingers crossed. I find you have chosen four truly exquisite pieces. For me the Cartier I truly lust after and that i unfortunately missed when it could have been gotten more easily is the 2396C CPCP Monopussoir. Maybe one day 🤞🏻🤷🏻‍♂️

Of the four on your short list, it would be the Cintree — classic charm.
