Brandon.c introduces a fascinating horological experiment: the Casio G-SHOCK G-D001, a piece unique co-designed with AI. This article delves into how Casio integrated AI-generated design elements into a physical timepiece, offering a glimpse into the future of watch aesthetics and manufacturing. Brandon.c highlights the watch's 18K gold construction and its charitable auction, underscoring its significance beyond mere novelty.

I haven't seen this posted many places, but I thought it was really interesting and wanted to share it.

I'm sure many of us have seen the crazy watch designs generated using AI tools like Stable Diffusion.  Well, Casio is making a G-SHOCK that incorporates the exotic design elements commonly found in the watch images generated by the different AI models.  Additionally, it is made of 18K gold (including the bracelet) and will be auctioned off for charity later this year.

This article on Casio's site goes into a little more detail: https://gshock.casio.com/sg/g-news/new-releases/2023/G-D001/

I really hope it sells well. I LOVE it. EDIT: I meant to answer to the original post - sorry.

Often, there are ridiculous looking "skeletonized" dials which look very complicated - but are clearly non-sensical. This dial captures that very well while still being, presumably, functional.

Whoever programed the AI software to design this watch should be fired and their computer confiscated. But that's just me.
