quattro introduces the Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 AM Ref. 298600-3038, a significant update to the Alpine Eagle line featuring Chopard's pioneering anti-magnetic balance spring. His post delves into the technical innovations and aesthetic refinements, including a new alloy for the balance spring and an upgraded clasp. This detailed overview provides collectors with essential information on Chopard's commitment to both performance and design.
The
Chopard Alpine Eagle 41 AM ref. 298600-3038 is a
new version of the Alpine Eagle which features Chopard's
first antiâmagnetic balance spring.

This
balance spring isn't made of silicon, but of a
newly developed antimagnetic
alloy, which offers resistance to magnetic fields of up to
2,000 gauss.

The â
Moss Greenâ
dial is supposed to evoke the natural glow of a
soft bed of moss found along woodland paths in the Alps.
At
6âŻoâclock, a
crossedâout magnet symbol, rendered in
black, like the
seconds hand and also the
text and
minute track, attests to the antiâmagnetic performance of this model.

The
case and integrated
bracelet are made of the same
Lucent Steel as other models...

... but the
upgraded clasp features a
double-trigger release and a new
micro-adjustment system integrated into the folding clasp, which allows up to
5 mm of
on-the-fly adjustment.
Caliber 01.01-C, which comprises on the
antimagnetic hairspring, has the same
sober industrial design as the regular caliber and it is also
COSC certified.

It has a
power reserve of approximately
60 hours.

Like the
Alpine Eagle XP CS, released last year, the
dial of the
41 AM has only one Roman numeral (XII) instead of
three for the
XPS and
four for the
regular versions.

However, contrarily to the XP CS, it features a date aperture at 4:30, with matching date disc.

Also, this
Alpine Eagle 41 AM belongs to the
group of Alpine Eagle watches with
black (instead of white)
text and
minute track.

So, do
you think this is an
interesting or even
nice addition to the
lineup or aren't you interested?
I
personally find it
interesting be would have
preferred the
date to be
removed: I find it much
easier to
forget with
ordinary dials featuring
four Roman numerals, whereas
here it
seems very/
too visible to me.

One
last thing: I also noticed on
Chopard's website that
two new Alpine Eagle 41 are introduced.
First a steel model with a âRhone Blueâ dial ref. 298600-3035...

... and a
sapphire back bearing the
Alpine Eagle Foundationâs logo, which signifies that a portion of the
proceeds from this model
contributes to
funding the
Foundationâs initiatives aimed at preserving the Alpine environment.

Then a
rose gold Alpine Eagle XP CS ref. 295396-5001 with a
dial featuring a warm â
Shades of Woodâ
brown gradient, darkening toward the edges to evoke the concentric rings of a wooden crossâsection.
Thanks for looking.
Best, Emmanuel
