Kong introduces the Chopard Happy Sport Medium Automatic, a significant release for Baselworld 2013 that celebrates the collection's 20th anniversary. This new model marks a pivotal moment by integrating a mechanical self-winding movement into the iconic Happy Sport line, known for its signature 'moving diamonds.' The post details the watch's specifications and its tribute to classical watchmaking traditions.

For 20 years, the Happy Sport watches by Chopard have been appealing to devotees of contemporary, daring, and subtly unconventional timepieces. To mark this jubilee year, the iconic collection welcomes a mechanical interpretation in the shape of the new Happy Sport Medium Automatic.

It was in 1993 that Caroline Scheufele created one of the Chopard icons, the Happy Sport watch. Repeatedly interpreted over the years in occasionally humorous and consistently elegant ways, it has lived under various highly evocative identities: Happy Beach, La Vie en Rose, Happy Spirit, Mystery Pink…

Now, in celebrating the finest anniversary of its diamonds moving freely just a few mili metres above exquisite watch dials, Chopard unveils the new Happy Sport Medium Automatic. The famous moving diamonds – one of the most fascinating jewellery innovations in recent decades – adds an unprecedented mechanical dimension to their entrancing natural charm.

Moving diamonds meet a mechanical movement
Elegant, sophisticated and entirely loyal to the spirit of the original Happy Spirit, the new Happy Sport Medium Automatic reveals a guilloché silver-toned dial, a tribute to the decorative traditions of classical watchmaking and a perfect backdrop against which to highlight the seven moving diamonds. On the back, a sapphire crystal provides a chance to admire its mechanical self-winding movement adorned with a straight Côtes de Genève motif also known as Geneva stripes. How many times have we asked for a mechanical movement with the Happy Diamonds like the original Gent's Happy Diamonds watch of 1976? This Happy Sport proves that it is possible to make an automatic movement version albeit not THE Happy Diamonds model but the sporty version. The old story was that the original mechanical watch had it's adjustment crown at the back of the watch and that feature is found in modern quartz movements. Since there are no modern mechanical movements with caseback crown

diameter 42mm ( amp;fi=5&pi=4165431&ti=661136&msid=&s= ) As this is the year of Happy Sport, perhaps, what you have been thinking, may likely to happen, a mechanical inside Happy Sport. The Imperiale, at diameter 40mm, already with Fleurier Ebauche movements. Will the XL be XLL, to diameter 44mm? Could be a possibility too, like the Pink MM you have :-) There will be a customization programme for the Happy Sport. Interesting! Kong
