Because they perform poorly on it. No pointing fingers but some of the large brands do have a better process control and more reliable results. And if one sees modern mechanical watches as purely Veblenian goods, measuring something as pedestrian as performance actually detracts from their value πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚
