KIH's recap of the Japan Porsche Summer Summit offers a vivid account of a high-octane event where automotive passion met horological sponsorship. His focus on the Chopard-sponsored Porsche 919, fresh off its Le Mans 24 Hours victory, highlights the deep connection between luxury watches and motorsports. The post provides a unique perspective on exclusive brand events and the excitement they generate among enthusiasts.
I was stunned. I was overwhelmed. I dropped my jaw. From the road that lead to the hotel front entrance, there was a heavy traffic jam of which many were Porsche. I had a bad feeling, but the venue of this event was full!
I was shocked to see sooooo many people - this is invitation only, no announcement event, for the selected clients of Porsche Japan - NOT by the cars (I have very little interest in normal cars), let alone the special model which will be made only a few....
[Editor's Note: He means the Porsche 918, maybe?]
The crowd, the number of people.
DMG Mori is also a sponsor (didn't know that).
Porsche 919 hybrid and the winning scene.
Porsche came back to this endurance race last year (or 2 years ago?) and they already won Le Mans 24H already.

The 919 race car is definitely a cool machine! Thanks for sharing your photos of this lovely event Ken!
On cars ..... And your last shot! ;) Looks like you had a great time together with Chopard! Best Blomman
Thanks Ken, for the reprt LIVE for PuristS. Reports from round the world...the strength of PuristSPro. I used to live in Japan but still don't know why the show girls or models carry umbrellas. Even when it is not a rainy month like July. Regards, MTF
... it is one of the duties of the "race queens" to put the umbrella over the driver to protect him from the heat of the sun, and therefore, race-related models always carry umbrella.... :-) I wish I could have someone to ask such a question! Ken PS: that machine was 919, not 918....
Ken, A plausible guess about the umbrellas. Porsche make the 919 Hybrid race car for endurance racing but they also have the Porsche 918 Spyder as a limited production series made at the same specialist factory as the racing cars The Porsche 918 Spyder is a mid-engined plug-in hybrid sports car powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.6 litre V8 engine, developing 608 horsepower (453 kW), with two electric motors delivering an additional 279 horsepower (208 kW) for a combined output of 887 horsepower
... 911, 918, 919..... Could be 918, which people flocked and was said to be limited production, etc... Sorry, I just can't tell the difference 911 or 918. To me, 919 IS THE CAR. Born to race and does what they were born to do. Those street "super cars" - born to run fast, but they are not unleashed most of their lives. Pity.... But it's just me :-) Thanks, MTF! Ken
