Porsche Motorsport LMP1 team bid a fond farewell to the WEC after defending WEC 2017 driver’s & manufacturer’s titles and winning a double podium at the 6 Hours of Bahrain.
As official timing partner, Chopard is proud to have contributed to this historical racing accomplishment over the last four years.

By securing second and third podium places at the last round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, Porsche could officially confirm both drivers’ and manufacturers’ world championship titles. After winning at Le Mans 2017, Nürburgring, Mexico and in the USA, the Porsche Motorsport LMP1 teams came to Bahrain to celebrate their supremacy through the year.

After putting both cars in podium positions, the Porsche LMP 1 Team bids a fond farewell to the FIA World Endurance Championship. Drivers Earl Bamber, Timo Bernhard and Brendon Hartley, who were crowned world champions two weeks ago, finished second in an incident-filled and highly emotional 2017 finale. The sister car, shared by Neel Jani, André Lotterer and Nick Tandy started from pole position but also suffered a set-back after a collision. Lotterer clocked the fastest race lap and finished in third position after six hours of racing.
This was one of the most successful chapters of Porsche’s motorsport history. Since 2015, the Porsche LMP Team took three consecutive Le Mans outright victories plus three successive manufacturers’ world championship titles while Porsche 919 Hybrid drivers thrice won the drivers' world championship title.
Since the Porsche 919’s debut in 2014, the tally from 34 races is 17 wins with seven of them being one-two victories. They achieved 20 pole positions and 13 fastest race laps.

Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, co-president of Chopard said: “What a great season it was! A victory at Le Mans along with several others drove Porsche Motorsport and its timing partner Chopard to reach the top of endurance! It has been an unbelievable success story over the last years. The Maison Chopard and my family are very proud to have accompanied Porsche for a fourth year in the World Endurance Championship. The team performance led Porsche Motorsport to defend both world championship titles.”

Exclusively available in Chopard boutiques, this new high-frequency timepiece by Chopard epitomises pure performance lightness, efficiency and technicality. The Superfast Power Control Porsche 919 HF Edition is a tribute from the Maison to its partner Porsche Motorsport’s success in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). It has a lot in common with the car that has monopolised the podium at the latest championship races: the Porsche 919 Hybrid.
