Continuing our investigation of the Credor watch company (part of Seiko's massive operations), we have a chance now to look at watches for our ladies. As with the men's watches, I was amazed at the breadth of product offerings from this company "we've never heard of". I have five Credors but never took time to research the company thoroughly.

If you recall, Credor means crest or pinnacle of gold, and originally was the assortment of watches that were made in precious metals. Now the portfolio contains SS as well as precious metals, rare handcrafted details, diamonds, and collaborations with famous artists or jewelry lines. We will cover those later, but first I'd like to provide a visual of the type of watches you can buy.

Most of them involve multiple choices! I can imagine the conversation at the Credor counter when an eager Purist arrives just in time to purchase a lovely watch for his lovely lady. Unprepared for the overwhelming assortment, he's faced with:

"Would sir like square, rectangular, oval, round or octagonal case?" "Light dial, dark dial? Engraved, numerals, markers, diamonds?"

"Would sir prefer a bracelet or a strap? If strap, is crocodile better or would you like satin?"

"Do you think she would care to have a small seconds hand on the dial? And would she like gold hands, or blued hands? Would diamond markers be nice?"

"Would she prefer Arabic numerals on her dial?" "There are watch case designs than can slim the wrist or accentuate it - which would she prefer?"

"Do you think that this will primarily be a piece of jewelry for her, or a timepiece? It matters how many diamonds you get (if the former)."

OK, that about exhausts my imaginary interaction, as the bedazzled Purist wanders off for a drink in the department store guest lounge... where he can peruse the database of watch choices

I assembled this summary and learned a lot about how the Credor designers work. If possible they offer a variety of shapes, sizes, calibers, and gold colors. You can set your budget by strap or bracelet, plain or diamond bezel, simple case or ornate.

The Japanese Domestic Market seems to have far better access to the "good stuff" from Credor. Some design aspects in Credor are still not harmoniously proportioned. The Europeans seem to do this best.
