IGOTT2: Manufacture DeWitt
Las Vegas, NV USA

Hello all!

We had a variety of manufacturers and Independents at IGOTT2 and it was interesting to hear from certain ones that aren't part of the mainstream.  When I saw the itinerary for the day, I noticed that DeWitt was on the schedule.   Honestly I'm not familiar with the them but I was first exposed to DeWitt from my regular AD who carried the line and had a cool looking carbon dialed Retrograde Seconds.  I also was wondering why they were chosen as one of the Purist' event brands and how they embodied our values.

The presentation began with our featured M.C. and PuristS moderator, Melvin aka MTF.  Ms. Nathalie Veysset, CEO of DeWitt gave us a brief history of the company and the vision behind the brand.

Interesting story of how she arrived to where she is today:  Ms. Veysset was practicing Law (specializing in accounting and tax law) when her client, DeWitt founder Jerome DeWitt, offered her to join is company.  Horology is in her blood, her father was a watchmaker and she grow up in La Chaux-de-Fond.

Even though she is a female CEO in a industry dominated by men, you could tell that her intelligence combined with her tenacity is well respected by her peers.

We get a glimpse of the ONLY watch, the DeWitt X-Watch, that will be auctioned off to charity later this year.

Now we get to the good stuff, the PuristS 10th anniversary piece!  The unique piece features their first 100% in-house Tourbillon (caliber DW8028) with a stunning Art Deco inspired dial.

The watchmaker explained the complex nature and extraordinary effort that went into the construction of the dial

The handwork and exquisite finishing that goes into the DeWitt P10

DeWitt @ IGOTT2 WATCHMAKER's DEMO

During the watchmaker's demonstration, we get a close up look at the incredible pieces in the Academia Constant Force Chain. As these parts are tiny, it requires a skilled craftsman to assemble the completed mechanism. How small is small? yep, there's 5 parts of the chain down there! Luckily we had the 2 large screens for us to visualize the watchmaker's skills in assembly. I'd like to note the real character of the brand, DeWitt was financially responsible for transporting the watchmaker's tabl

DeWitt @ IGOTT2 INTERACTIVE SESSION

Onto one of the most exciting things on the schedule, the DeWitt INTERACTIVE session. PuristS had the opportunity to don a jacket and become a watchmaker for the day! Many made a bee line to the tables and tried their hand at assembly. Now this is where the fun begins!!!!!! After getting into their coats, it was time to show us what you got..... Heard alot of comments of how small the parts were. Those that have never seen parts in person have a better appreciation for the work that goes into a

It was fun to do the assembling

They gave us a fairly simple job but it was still very tiny screws and very tight finger cots - not a trivial task esp. when doing it for the first time. If we could have had a 3/4 plate that spanned about 10 gear wheels - now that would have driven us right into the bar... Cazalea

re: it was fun

Hello cazalea, It was great to have you and 'L' join us in Vegas. Good to hear that you had a good time with the DeWitt interactive session. Did you get a chance to see the collection? That DeWitt chain is cool isn't it? -MW

The chains were awesome(ly) tiny

Imagine a Mr T neck chain set made by DeWitt! It wouldn't take much gold but on the other hand the labor costs would be extremely high! I liked the various dial treatments and was impressed with the "architecture" of the cases. There's no other appropriate word to describe the construction and presence of the watches.
