KMII shares his Eterna Sevenday Fastbeat, celebrating its high-frequency movement, distinctive case design, and charming Italian day disc. His post highlights the unique appeal of vintage watches, particularly those with quirky features and a strong sense of character. This piece invites readers to appreciate the often-overlooked details that make vintage timepieces so special.

Returning from holidays is a great way to reconnect with watches you haven’t taken with. And as another watch from the Fastbeat list (here:  www.watchprosite.com  for potential candidates) is inbound, I figured the time came for the Eterna Sevenday Fastbeat to get some wrist time.

In addition to the 36.000VpH movement that I generally have a weak spot for, the funky - era appropriate - case design and some of the grooviest hour markers known to vintage watchmaking, it has one more endearing feature. An Italian day disc.

The watch is a day / date (hence Sevenday) with a semi quickset date. Namely the date is but the day isn’t. Not as tragic as it sounds, as in spite of a relatively compact crown, which is fully recessed into the case in the zero position, one can very easily go through a whole week when setting it. And thereby cycle through the Italian day names, which all just sound so much nicer than their German or English equivalents smile I guess non-English date wheels are rarer today than 50 years ago - so another fun aspect of vintage watches smile

The next Fastbeat has no day complication but a much more elaborate movement, a less dramatic case but a much more interesting dial... Looking forward to adding my fifth Fastbeat soon smile

Have a great week!

The next one is funky in a different way - different brand, too. Quite excited

I also like the name “Sevenday” - all one word! I find little details like that very appealing. Regards Kev.

I guess your other high beats are the Seiko’s? - what’s due next in the 36000 fast lane? Cheers, Giles.

Actually forgot that I’m already at five The sixth will be a new brand to me but certainly one with a historical involvement in the field Thanks Giles and your high beats - like the one next to the Eterna - are truly superb!
