Jay (Eire) delves into the highly coveted F.P. Journe Anniversaire Tokyo series, a collection of limited-edition two-tone watches originally created to commemorate anniversaries of the brand's first boutique in Tokyo. His post highlights the unique aesthetic of titanium cases paired with rose gold elements, a design choice that has made these references exceptionally collectible. This article explores the specific models and their significance within F.P. Journe's storied history.

These are the references mentioned by Mike in reply to my earlier post regarding the unique (at least that’s my understanding) two tone Resonance coming up for sale.

As most of you know these were originally produced for several anniversaries of Journe’s first and perhaps flagship Boutique, Tokyo.  The Centigraphe then being adopted as the de facto 10th anniversary piece for other Boutiques.

These limited runs are Titanium cased, with crowns, pushers and other elements in rose gold.  It’s an aesthetic which really works in my opinion and watches from this original Tokyo series have become very collectible.

The CS, produced for the 1st anniversary of the Tokyo Boutique. 20 pieces.

The Resonance, produced for the 2nd anniversary of the Tokyo Boutique. 12 pieces.

The Tourbillon, produced for the 3rd anniversary of the Tokyo Boutique. 20 pieces.

The Octa Perpetuelle, 5th anniversary of the Tokyo Boutique.  99 pieces.

The Centigraphe,  originally the 10th anniversary of Tokyo. 10 pieces (for Tokyo).  Note, the Centigraphe reference has been adopted as the de facto 10th anniversary piece for all of Journes Boutiques.

About the F.P. Journe Chronomètre à Résonance Ref. resonance

The Chronomètre à Résonance represents F.P. Journe's entry in the Souveraine collection, distinguished by its resonance complication. This reference utilizes the principle of resonance between two independent escapements to enhance chronometric precision.

The 40mm case is crafted in 18k rose gold with a fixed bezel and sapphire crystal. The silver dial houses the manual-winding caliber 1499 movement, offering a 42-hour power reserve. Water resistance is rated to 30 meters, and the watch is completed with a leather strap.

This reference appeals to collectors focused on haute horlogerie complications and independent watchmaking. The resonance mechanism positions this piece as a technical showcase within F.P. Journe's manual-winding offerings. Production began in 2000, establishing this as part of the brand's contemporary catalog for collectors seeking advanced chronometric functions.

Much more drama, for want of a better word. (I’ve been watching a lot of “Film Noir”. A lot.)

I love these things but look on from afar. Very unlikely to be in my price range, but so nice that special pieces like this exist.

I was very tempted to pick up the set that FPJ curated for Patrimoine.

The ship has sailed for me on the vast majority of the collection as of now (brass, ruthenium, most boutique stuff, etc.). I keep the dream alive for a CB and maybe one day an Optimum or something else interesting. Still such a wonderful brand to enjoy.

The only one I don’t like is the Centigraphe. I think the CS would be my pick.
