ChristianDK's F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain in tantalum, a "put on and go" favorite, sparks a discussion on the evolving preferences for watch weight and wrist comfort among collectors. His personal experience highlights how the lightness and ergonomic design of certain timepieces can become highly addictive, challenging traditional notions of luxury watch heft. The thread explores how seasoned collectors, like ChristianDK, shift towards appreciating watches that blend seamlessly with one's appearance, prioritizing comfort and subtle elegance.

I don’t have much free time these days to play with watches. (Or any free time for that matter!) This one seems to become my “put on and go” favorite. The super lightness is very addictive. I was trying one of my Rolex this morning and they feel very heavy in comparison.  This one is super wrist friendly with its curved case back and the rubber strap.

I wish you all a happy weekend!

Please join me in our traditional Friday roll call of FPJ watches.

It took me a few tries and then “I get it!”

It’s far from his greatest watch but it holds its place in a very cool way.

Like it isn’t there.

It funny how most of us initially would want a feeling of weight on the wrist, it’s that “I’ve finally got a real watch” feeling that someone is validated by the weight. And then when one maybe gets their first platinum watch, again that reassuring weight. And now of course many of us shift to “it feels like I’m not even wearing a watch” and the comfort that brings. I find the same with my Centigraphe and it’s a significant attraction to the watch, it’s just so easy to wear in large part due to

That is so well described, Jay!

I have definitely moved to thinner and smaller as my taste in watches developed. I have a big wrist but now I’m contemplating 36 mm Rolex. A great watch should just be part of or blend in with ones appearance. Then, when you look at closely it should be strong in its gestalt. Your pictures of your Vagabondage are heavenly. Really, really lovely. You made a very great catch with that one. HAGWE my friend! Christian

Such a beautiful movement

I remember the first time I saw the barley corn engraving on the CB I was completely mesmerized as I had the CS and this one was much more beautiful. Actually, your picture brings back my first encounter with the CB. I was so surprised and knew immediately that one day I had to own one. Great memories 😃👍 Thank You for posting this wonderful scan! .. and have a wonderful weekend 😊
