CR's initial impressions of the F.P. Journe Gino's Dream Élegante sparked a lively discussion among collectors. His appreciation for its aesthetic execution, despite its quartz movement and 'glass stones,' challenges traditional horological perspectives. This article delves into the community's nuanced views on quartz movements, wearability, and the evolving appeal of gem-set timepieces within the luxury watch landscape.

Clearly intended to be a fun tribute watch, not intended to be innovative. "Stones" are glass. Case 48mm.

We know rainbow variations are common among brands these days, but this strikes me as especially well executed. The Elegante lends itself well to this aesthetic, I think.

About the F.P. Journe Élégante Ref. elegante

The F.P. Journe Élégante represents the brand's entry into electro-mechanical timekeeping, distinguished by its hybrid movement technology within the Élégante series. This reference marks a departure from traditional mechanical movements in the F.P. Journe collection.

The 40mm titanium case houses the caliber 1210 electro-mechanical movement, paired with a silver dial and fixed bezel. Construction features include sapphire crystal and a rubber strap, with water resistance rated to 30 meters. The titanium case material provides a lightweight alternative to traditional precious metal constructions.

This reference appeals to collectors interested in F.P. Journe's exploration of alternative movement technologies beyond purely mechanical calibers. The electro-mechanical movement and titanium construction position this piece as a distinct offering within the brand's portfolio, catering to those seeking contemporary technical approaches in independent watchmaking. Production commenced in 2014.

sell every one they produce. If everyone had the same taste life would be boring.

But this also isn’t for me. But I do think many women and some men would find this attractive.

What do you think about that? That model without diamonds has as far as I know many years of waiting list. But what about with diamonds? Is that model available at the boutiques?

Years ago, shortly after the Elegante was introduced, I looked at buying one but the 48mm looked too big on my wrist, and the 40mm (which came out first) was too small.
