Blomman Mr Blue introduces the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Lady Moon Phases ref. 49524D53A752-CK7A, highlighting its blend of elegance, subtle 'bling,' and mechanical sophistication. He emphasizes that this 36mm white gold timepiece, with its diamond-set bezel and mother-of-pearl dial, represents a serious mechanical offering for women, challenging the perception of ladies' watches as purely decorative. Blomman's detailed review focuses on its balanced design and the charm of its moon phase complication.

Friends,

Today I like to show something for the ladies.

The Girard-Perregaux 1966 Lady Moon Phases in white gold.

This elegant and classic looking ladies watch does have a bling factor…

White Gold case, diamond set bezel and another nine diamonds on the Mother of Pearl dial.

But that is not what I would like to focus on here…

Instead I like to point out that Girard-Perregaux also makes some really nice mechanical watches for ladies!

I know that we often dismiss ladies watches as "bling" watches but in this case GP opted for a ladies watch that not only have a level of "bling" that would work in an everyday life but also have a very nice complication – the Moon Phases!

At the size of 36 mm in diameter and 10.29 mm thick, makes this GP 1966 Lady is large enough to avoid to be classified as "too small and jewelry like" and in the same time small enough not to become a big vulgar bling watch!

The nicely balanced dial with the sub-second over the Moon Phases have a different ratio than we are used to see on similar men’s watches.

The sub-second looks almost oversized here.

I like that; it gives the Moon Phases the space it deserves!

smile

The XII and the lines at three and nine make reading the time easy.

Notice the lack of a date window here.

Even if I don’t like to admit it, I like it a lot!

The balance and symmetry this crates…

Yes I know, now Vlad is laughing!

In combination with the switchless white alligator strap makes a very elegant watch, perfect for the summer!

smile

Inside is the GP Caliber 03300-0067 automatic movement with a power reserve of 46 hours.

Open case back showing the beautiful decorated Pink Gold rotor.

The case has water resistance of 30 meter/100 feet.

To the right of the crown in this photo is the pusher for adjusting the Moon Phases.

A very nice offer from GP to the ladies, IMO.

Best

About the Girard-Perregaux Ref. Vintage1945

The Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 line, introduced in 1994, draws inspiration from historical models, specifically a 1945 Art Deco piece. This collection is characterized by its rectangular or tonneau-shaped cases and a design language that evokes mid-20th century aesthetics. The Vintage 1945 series quickly became a cornerstone of Girard-Perregaux's offerings in the 1990s, reinterpreting classic forms with contemporary watchmaking standards. It represents a significant period for the brand in re-establishing its heritage-inspired collections.

Early models in the Vintage 1945 series typically featured stainless steel cases, though gold variants were also produced. The case dimensions varied depending on the specific model, often presenting a balanced profile suitable for dress wear. These watches were frequently equipped with automatic movements, showcasing Girard-Perregaux's in-house capabilities or finely finished outsourced calibers. The crystal was commonly sapphire, ensuring durability and legibility, while water resistance was generally suitable for daily wear rather than aquatic activities.

For collectors, the Vintage 1945 series appeals to those interested in neo-vintage watches that successfully blend historical design with modern execution. The 1994 introduction year marks it as one of the earlier and more influential lines from Girard-Perregaux's resurgence in the 1990s. Its various iterations, including time-only, small seconds, and later complicated versions, offer a range of choices for enthusiasts seeking a distinctive rectangular watch with a clear lineage.
