Fruends,
Several of you meanwhile have realized that I have been
" Blommanized" with the GP virus..

That way I had already happily found a Richeville Chronometer,
a Sea Hawk, and some more Vintages, mostly from 60ies

Richeville Chronometer

SeaHawk (40ies) & Ref 9086 Chronometer HF

It also had emerged as a stimulus for getting my first
modern, the Traveller II, GMT, Gde Date, Moon with sapphire dial,
which meanwhile gets pretty much of my wristtime.

Although a small family of GPs, I was looking for a nice Chronograph,
and recently got lucky to find a 70es one, which really caught my
attention.
- First I like Vintages from the 70ies ( next to 50ies & 60ies of course),
secondly it happened to be with a blue dial, which I was looking for in GP.

Really a nice 13 ligne Column wheel Chronograph,
including the original bracelet..

GP, Ref 42.10, Cal Valjoux 23

Really like the nice Tritium indices, and
the changing colours of blue, depending on play of light

Nicely signed bracelet, the latter matching the design
codes of funkyness of the 70ies..

Cute little lightblue accent in subcounter @3

Really like it a lot..

Hopefully, you did a bit as well.

Cheers & have a great Sunday

About the Girard-Perregaux Ref. 4940

The Girard-Perregaux ref. 4940, known as the Traveler II, is a notable example of a sophisticated travel watch from the early 2000s. It integrates a mechanical alarm and a second time zone display, presenting these complications with a balanced dial layout. The design emphasizes legibility and functional harmony, distinguishing it within Girard-Perregaux's contemporary offerings for its thoughtful integration of multiple features. The salmon dial variant, produced in limited numbers, is particularly recognized for its color tone and overall aesthetic appeal.

This reference features a 38mm case, often crafted in precious metals, housing the self-winding Calibre 2291. The movement provides the dual functionality of an alarm and a second time zone, alongside a date display. The watch is fitted with a box sapphire crystal, which adds a perceived depth to the dial and enhances the visual experience of the various indications. The execution of the chamfered date window and the playful 24-hour second time zone indicator are specific design elements that contribute to its distinctive character.

Appealing to collectors who value mechanical complexity and refined aesthetics, the ref. 4940 stands out for its combination of practical complications and a distinctive dial. The limited production of certain dial colors, such as the salmon variant, adds to its collectibility. It represents a period when Girard-Perregaux was exploring sophisticated travel-oriented timepieces, offering a blend of traditional watchmaking and functional design.

Opening a new chapter and a new decade :)

I take it your first 1970s GP then and quite a bold entry at that. Like the blue accents a lot and the bracelet looks very cool, too! How does it wear? In any case congratulations on the new piece and hope to see it often here - especially since you now have a GP to time things, too

Hello K !.. Thx for kind looking & the nice words ! & Yes, the bracelet wears a little stiff but still quite comfortable.. Have as a backup dark brown Cordovan also, but have not really decided. :))

.. in fact even better than many from Vintage JLCs. Also for the summer, I do like bracelets.. Matches the bold appeal well with this Ref., which however is ameliorated by the blue color, with the nicely crealy patinated indices.. Cheers & Best ! hs

You want to say that you were totally "Blommatomized" with all these beauties!!!

A huge congrats for your new GP Traveler Big Date Moonphase. IMHO, One of the (if not THE) most affordable and desirable GP today. Thank you for all the nice pics. Best wishes Alkiro

Thx Alkiro, for your nice words & the kind interest !.. & Yes, for me it also has a lot of " Bang for the Buck".. :))

.. The sapphire dial delivers a lot of hues and shades of colour, when light plays with it.. Cheers & Best, hs
