Cazalea recounts a special Japanese-themed evening at Feldmar Watches in Los Angeles, an event that brought together PuristS and other enthusiasts to celebrate Grand Seiko. The post highlights demonstrations by Mr. Hiraga, a master watchmaker from Japan, and offers a glimpse into seldom-seen Grand Seiko and Prospex models, alongside discussions with Seiko executives.

Tonight I had the great pleasure of joining a half-dozen PuristS, along with 150 other guests, at a special Japanese-themed evening at Feldmar Watches in Los Angeles.

Seiko brought Mr. Hiraga from Japan to demonstrate some of his skills which are representative of watchmakers in the two GS studios.

I was thrilled to learn that he had worked on two of the special Credor watches we brought along tonight.

We were able to speak with Jasmine, the Seiko sales rep, and Ken Irie, Sr. VP of the Seiko's luxury watch division. Thanks to both of them for explaining some of the nuances of Seiko marketing.

I was able to get photos of some brilliant and seldom-seen GS models - such as these with colorful and/or textured dials:

And these Prospex divers:

A few Astrons

And many more!

For at least an hour Mrs C led a captivating discussion on Seiko watches, attended by many young men (wondering how they could find a watch-savvy woman like this).

In the meantime, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to talk with some other Seiko enthusiasts - as rapid as and group of AP, Omega or Rolex-lovers!

Dr. No and I also were busy sampling the excellent Japanese food and drinks on offer (sorry no photos).

I expect to see more images of this event! Purists in attendance tonight, please post what you saw!

Cheers,

Cazalea

. . . or casual . . . . . . take your pick. [That's our intrepid Seiko forum co-moderator on the left, and Mr Hiraga, master watchmaker of GS, on the right.]

I am glad to see your wife, too. The ladies sandwiching Hiraga-san in the last photo.... I think that is a bit of confusion of Japanese and Chinese..... ))) You got the info you needed? Ken

Been here 100 years; not a Seiko boutique like the NY shop. Mike
