Ambos shares his excitement over acquiring a rare Grand Seiko commemorative set, highlighting the exceptional finishing and historical significance of these pieces. His post showcases the meticulous details and the unique numbering scheme that makes this set a pinnacle for Grand Seiko collectors.

Hello everybody,
Just wanted to share my excitement with you... Although already a very happy owner of a SBGW047 (which will soon adorn my brother's wrist!) and a SBGV011, I couldn't help myself from pulling the trigger for the set, especially as a dealer here in HK could get his hands on one. Picked it up yesterday and still speechless by this solemn beauty...
Talking about all the trimmings... I assume that's a new pinnacle for (Grand) Seiko! Seems like they kept from each historical collection the same 2 last digits of the last hundred produced, i.e. Mine all end with 72. Nice touch and they must have thought of this commemorative set for some time to keep the 55 respective watches back!

Best regards and a good weekend
Ambos

it is indeed interesting that very little is known about this set! Having said that, living close to China one is constantly running a risk of picking up counterfeit goods ;o) I realised that the photo quality is rather poor, I'll try to upload some more in higher resolution.
