Emmanuel (quattro) introduces the Grand Seiko SBGW291 and SBGW293, two stainless steel references from the Heritage Collection that reinterpret the classic 1967 44GS design. He highlights their compact dimensions and the hand-wound 9S64 caliber, inviting community discussion on their appeal.

These two stainless steel references, which are part of the Heritage Collection, are modern reinterpretations of the original 1967 design of the 44GS

With a diameter of 36.5 mm, a thickness of 11.6 mm and a lug-to-lug of 42.7 mm, they are the smallest 44GS models in the Grand Seiko collection.

Hand-assembled at the Shizukuishi Studio, the 9S64 caliber is a hand-wound mechanical movement with a 72-hour power reserve and an accuracy of -3 to +5 seconds per day.

Do these watches appeal to you?

Best, Emmanuel

Especially on the custom strap of the first shots you are showing πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ» Seiko’s strap game is still behind what they can do with the watches themselves, unfortunately πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ But great fan of the GoD design language and the size πŸ‘πŸ»

seems more in tune with the design. I also like the strap of the first photos very much. Surprisingly, these two refs. had almost never been mentioned on the site. Best, Emmanuel

GS launches quite a few references and not all are popular / some only sold in specific regions, making it difficult for all to be mentioned here at some point πŸ˜ŠπŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ I guess these two are also not the references that get a lot of push from the brand πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

I haven’t seen either of them in real life and, judging from photos, I had the feeling that the monochrome look of the silver variant matches the design better, but I usually like warm tones very much and this chocolate variant could be the one which wins my heart over in person! Anyway, these are really nice references. Thanks again. Best, Emmanuel
