KMII shares a creative approach to refreshing his watch collection during a 'no new watch' period: strap experimentation. This post focuses on his Grand Seiko SBGX097, showcasing how a green toad strap enhances its often-elusive dark green dial and offers a fresh aesthetic.

As I have been going through a prolonged 'no new watch' period, I tried to spice up things in a different way - by starting some strap experimenting. Most of the results you have seen already (here are some examples: www.watchprosite.com or www.watchprosite.com or www.watchprosite.com or www.watchprosite.com or www.watchprosite.com for those Purists who are not easy to shock).

The following is the most current - a green toad strap for the Grand Seiko SBGX097. Those of you with Grand Seikos will know that it's often difficult to capture all the details in a photoghraph and the SBGX097 is a typical example. The dial - actually a dark green coloured one - is often exceedingly difficult to get across. Hence a green strap to ensure that there is at least some green in every picture of it wink

So without further ado, here the results:

Here with the green visible on both the strap and the dial smile

And here with the dial hiding its true colours -as it is so fond of doing wink

Finally a daring work combination. I find it actually works a lot better than anticipated. And as with many GS watches, changins straps is an incredibly simple process - the cross drilled lugs and very straightforward attachment of the deployant clasp helping enormously. I wonder when Seiko will discover the strap area for themselves - seeing how easy the fitting part already is...

I have a navy blue toad strap on my SBGW047 , and I like the texture of toad against a "plain" GS dial. The shade of green brings out the green dial well, bravo!

I feel it works, too. May need to look into some additional toads - the SBGH035 is looking for an alternative to the current NATO strap

And I have to say I love your yellow NATO on the Richeville!

The shirt was white, as you can see, the tie was navy blue with stars - will have a look if I have any pictures. Shoes and belt tan. I was thinking of blue shoes and belt but did not go for it in the end...
