Sham1 introduces the Grönefeld 1941 Remontoire Hodinkee Limited Edition, a stainless steel timepiece with a salmon dial and Arabic numerals, limited to just 12 pieces. His post captures the excitement and internal debate among collectors regarding bespoke dials, independent watchmaker value, and the allure of unique collaborations.

I think you will all agree with me that the Gronefeld Remontoire has been one of those watches that many of us would like to own. Even those among us who are unsure about the long term stability and the after sales service of independent watchmakers cannot help but fall in love with this masterpiece from the Dutch wonder brothers.  The movement itself is absolutely breathtaking and many of us love manual chronographs and split second chronographs but the Remontoire is a sight to behold even in this esteemed company. One can even specify a bespoke dial from Voutilainen, the guru of dials but I have always been partial to the original plain dial.  A couple of hours ago, I received a notification of a limited edition Remontoire by Hodinkee which took my breath away. Now, I know my fellow purist, watchonthewrist, who loves salmon dials will fall in love with this one as I have. Finally for me, the perfect dial on the Remontoire, arabic numerals on a salmon dial. I now have to figure out how to come up with USD58k before all 12 pieces are sold!!!  smile

Limited to 12 pieces in stainless steel

I need this watch!! smile

39.5mm seldom looked better

No Remontoire post is complete without a photo of its exquisite movement

The remontoire on the dial and watching it in action was the best part of having this watch on the wrist during the day! I hope Lange does not make a 1815 Tourbillion with the tourbillon not visible dial side!

but I think a visible remontoire on this clean and elegant dial would have spoilt its elegance. Besides, I am all for discreet elegance!! I guess you will not be partial to Patek tourbillons which are all hidden on the reverse side

Everything I don't like from the standard one has been fixed in this version. Vte
