Halcro's quest for a Rolex Yacht-Master 40 Everose Gold during the unique travel restrictions of 2021 offers a fascinating glimpse into the lengths collectors will go to acquire a coveted timepiece. His resourceful approach, leveraging the Australia-New Zealand 'Travel Bubble' and duty-free availability, highlights the determination often required in the luxury watch market. This article explores Halcro's journey and the community's reactions, providing valuable context for navigating watch acquisitions in challenging times.

Having established that there were no Rolex ADs in Australia with any 'Yacht Master 40 Everose Golds' in stock......I awoke one morning with an idea.
Phoning the Duty-Free Rolex AD at the International Terminal in Sydney......I struck 'gold'!!
The pandemic, and Australia's lock-down on International Departures and Arrivals...had worked in my favour.
"How do I get it? I asked the lady over the phone....
"You have to fly out" she responded.
"Oohh".....
"Why not go to New Zealand?" she added
Because of the successful suppression of the virus in Australia and New Zealand....a 'Travel Bubble' has recently been opened between the two countries.
21/2 hours flight time there, two hours between flights and three hours flight back......I managed to buy a Rolex Sports Watch from an AD at RRP less 10% GST!!
I call that a good day's work........

This is one I admired since its release in 2015, but that’s a longer story for another time. Enjoy your new watch!

Thanks Bill, You're right....and it's something I didn't appreciate till I actually collected it.

A great success story indeed. Even after you factor in the flight cost, you would have come ahead. Recommend blurring out the serial number on the photos, just for security’s sake.

Thanks... Can you teach me how?

But if you have an iPhone, you can click on edit and then add a black or white marker and scribble it over the serial number. Hope that helps
