shortys home presents a captivating photo essay on the Hentschel H1 and H2 watches, challenging the notion that exciting design is difficult to achieve in time-only pieces. Through a series of black and white photographs, the author highlights how subtle details and harmonious proportions create a compelling aesthetic that transcends individual components. This post serves as a testament to the power of thoughtful design in independent watchmaking.

We can probably agree that creating a timeless yet exciting design is a very difficult task. This may even be more true for a time only watch, where all the attraction comes from subtle and refined aspects instead of bold and catchy elements.

For me the Hentschel H1 and H2 watches are a good example how attention to detail in every aspect creates a whole that is bigger than the sum of it's parts. Since we talk design, I opted for black and white shots only.

The harmonious relation between diameter and height...

... the lugs appearing to be a natural extension of the case...

A domed dial, protected by a domed crystal, between them a very thin rehaut...

... and of course those hands that remind me of blades of grass...

Since great design is inspired by the laws of nature, I thought I'd put the three Hentschel watches to the test and let them blend with natural habitats. I hope you enjoy the pictures!

With a last shot I'll come to an end. Have a great weekend everyone!

Cheers
Henrik
