holdemchamp1225's journey with Simon Brette's Chronomètre Artisans offers a rare glimpse into the genesis of an independent horological masterpiece. This article explores the unique 'Tiger Claw' engraving of the titanium model and the profound connection forged between collector and creator. It highlights why early engagement with emerging artisans can lead to some of the most rewarding experiences in luxury watch collecting.

The brief  :  Yesterday Simon Brette officially launched his Chronomètre Artisans in Titanium. Truly an amazing piece and different from the Souscription model which had a different engraved dial (called Dragon Scale) done by master engraver Yasmina Anti. The Ti model has a different engraving technique which they call "Tiger Claw."

Backstory  :  almost 2 years ago during Watches & Wonders 2022 I was fortunate enough to have met up with Simon during an impromptu meeting / tea / coffee. At this point, he had just left MB&F and was designing his first prototypes but ONLY had a couple sketches of the project. Obviously this was before the crazy hype and following he has received since then 🙄 🤷

I was BLOWN away by the sketches but what really excited me was the process of how he would highlight the artisans involved in the project as well as incorporate personal details from his family/ history in horology. It truly touched me and happily / surprisingly he agreed to have dinner with our collecting group that attended W&W 2022 together.

Little did we know but during the dinner we discussed his plans and the process of acquiring a piece in the future. I guess it was meant to be as the entire group agreed on a project together which was truly an amazing moment shared between us all, one of many ❤️ 🥰

Fast forward 19 - 20 months and we were happy to have taken delivery of this INCREDIBLE work of art. Don't want to say too much more as some of the group would like to remain private for personal reasons but what I can say is everyone was blown away with their pieces.

This was an incredible journey from the start to finally receiving the piece as Simon kept us involved the entire way, almost daily / weekly. It has honestly been the most satisfying and enjoyable watch purchase / project I have ever been a part of so needless to say, this one has a ton of sentiment value for me and our group.

All things considered, I would truly say it has jumped into my top 5 of favorite all time pieces for so many reasons.

BRAVO to Simon Brette and all the artisans involved in this work of art. We truly appreciate all of you ❤️
