MTR, a seasoned collector, shares his anticipation for the IWC Portugieser Eternal Calendar, a timepiece that has already captivated him through images. His post highlights a crucial tenet of watch collecting: the indispensable experience of trying on a watch in person before making a final decision. This article synthesizes community insights and MTR's own observations on this significant IWC release.

Finally! 🙏

Watch by IWC, Portugieser, Eternal Calendar
(1. photo that my AD sent me yesterday)

It's already arrived at my AD. I'll be able to pick it up next Tuesday. Since I haven't seen it in person yet, I've reserved the right not to take it if it doesn't sit well on my wrist or if I don't like it in person.

As all of us "old hands" know: you can only judge a watch by holding it in your hand or trying it on your wrist. Not by photos, no matter how great the results.

Otherwise, everything about this watch has already charmed me.

I'll keep you updated!

All the best, my dear watch friends,
Thomas

Many watches have charmed me. Then when I saw it in the metal, it was not quite convincing enough! There is no substitute for tying it on first ! Keep us posted

I think it’s a great looking IWC with some extraordinary horology. I hope it meets your expectations on Tuesday and I looking forward to hearing your real world thoughts about it. All the best, Jon

I've already read and researched everything I can about this watch. 😂 I'm fascinated by this beast. Its blend of aesthetics, technical achievement, and practical usability… 🙏

The idea is definitely good, and the will and determination are strong. I'm curious to see if "the flesh is just as strong" and if I won't completely abandon all my resolutions once I have the good piece in front of me… 🤣
