Timeout, a respected member of the WatchProSite community, shares his initial impressions of the new IWC Ingenieur after five days of wear. His post provides a unique perspective, comparing the Ingenieur not just as a standalone piece but as a modern homage intended to complete a '70s Genta-designed integrated bracelet trio alongside his Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Patek Philippe Nautilus. This article delves into his nuanced take on its value proposition and aesthetic appeal.

It was a close call - but I wanted to swap it out for this one to compare and contrast.

I know a lot of people have complained about the price of the Ingenieur relative to other IWC watches - but I see it a a steal if you’re looking for a modern day homage to the other 70’s Genta stainless steel classics. I love the dial - which in black really holds its own against the RO. I didn’t care for the Patek blue dial 5711 so opted for the white/silver dial instead, so the black dial on the Ingenieur will really make it a contrasting choice to the other two.

My only experience with modern Ingenieurs is the earlier 322701 tuna can, and the somewhat more recent 323906. Both since sold. But it seems IWC has raised their game in the current releases. I don't think the price is that crazy. Never a bad time to put on a RO.

I also owned a 3239 back when they were new and it was a very nice watch at a much lower price than the new Ingenieur... but the new one is CLEARLY made and finished to a higher standard. I didn't appreciate it until I handled one.

I know the AP dial is extremely detailed and well done but still... If you can post a macro of the IWC...?

rugged watch than your beautiful AP, for sure. Did you care to check the accuracy of your IWC?

I sure can see how it can win one over. Need to take a look live for myself. Enjoy!

It’s a bit more industrial than the RO and Patek but totally a quality product. I agree that it’s fairly priced and a great update to the 1970’s design.
