Makilla's acquisition of a unique IWC Pilot's Watch in sand-colored ceramic, ordered at SIHH 2019, highlights the appeal of distinctive materials and limited availability in luxury watch collecting. His personal journey, including a 13-month wait and the opportunity to choose an individual number, underscores the deep connection collectors form with special references. This piece explores the allure of unconventional designs and the community's reaction to IWC's innovative use of ceramic.

Finally got a call from the IWC boutique today. It’s the only piece coming to Beirut. I’ve placed the order back in SIHH 2019 and chose my individual number 😉

The sand color ceramic is so unusual. It’s a love or hate affair. I personally find it so beautiful and especially when you have many other variations. It would blend in perfectly with the others. Definitely not your daily beater. More of a funky weekend watch if I may say

Here it is after 13 months of wait!

Hope you like it!

Have a nice weekend everyone,

Laurent

I love it. I would put it on black canvas w/ sand stitching. BAM.

Not sure why that changed:

Fell in love with the canvas strap. Apparently they switched to rubber instead in order to avoid fast strap aging. Light color canvas will get dirty and age in a matter of weeks

Is that really a rubber strap???
