Clementkc's recent service experience with his Jaeger-LeCoultre Extreme Lab 2 brings to light a critical discussion point for collectors: the necessity of movement replacement during servicing. His original post details JLC's requirement to swap the original black-bridged movement for an updated, lighter-colored version. This scenario prompts a deeper look into brand service policies, the implications for watch originality, and the long-term value of such high-complication timepieces.

The lighter movement is good, too, as you can better see it. But I would have preferred that JLC keeps it as it is. Best, Nicolas
I find that lame, but the silver lining may be a quick turnaround at the service center
Does anyone know why that is? Did they explain it to you, OP? I'm a bit baffled that they opt for a drop-in replacement.
All I got back was the movement was upgraded and they can only service on the updated movement which is a different colour.
