Amanico revisits the Jaeger-LeCoultre Extreme World Alarm "Tides of Time" seven years after its release, prompting a discussion on its polarizing aesthetics and substantial dimensions. His post sparks a community-wide reflection on JLC's past and future in the sport watch segment, questioning whether a bold, sporty timepiece still has a place in the brand's contemporary catalog.

While visiting my hard disc, I fell on some old pictures of an old model, the Extreme World Alarm, here in the " Tides of Time " version.

It was a huge watch, thick, with a strong presence, which may not be a consensual watch, but which is not a bad thing.

We are never happy. When this watch was unveiled, many people ( and among them, myself ) were not very pleased with the aesthetics of that watch, mostly due to the big alarm window and the huge dimensions.

Now, 7 years after, we are complaining about the absence of that kind of watch in the catalogue...

Which raises two questions:

1/ Would you be happy to see a strong looking sport watch coming from the Manufacture?

2/ I am dreaming of a World Time and Alarm combination. Maybe more discrete and elegant than this Extreme World Alarm, in the Geophysic or Master Control line.

What is your opinion? What are your dreams?

Best,

Nicolas

I owned this model, only mine was a Rossi ti.

I regret much ever let it go, it was a real cool summer watch on the yellow caoutchouc. Although this blue is also very striking!

I like many mc line

It has something that some of other manufacturers lack In house movement Non modular Not too thick Well priced And not too big for my wrist Sadly my generation usually prefer bigger watches and more sporty look As for your question; 1. Yes!! Definitely yes 2. I asked some of my friends about jlc sport watches. And for their opinions, i think jlc should introduce a new line which is bolder and sportier. They are think that jlc sport line is a hybrid one, which is not elegant enough, and not sport
