The prototype, unveiled in 2010.

The definitive version, which also existed in red.

The big difference? The definitive has a smooth bezel, which is more my taste.

The proto also had Extrem Lab written on the bezel.

One of the most brilliant modern Jaeger Lecoultre, definitely.

Best,

Nicolas

It's great to get reminders of the incredible pieces from JLC in the not distant past.

This one is so awesome. Thanks for posting. M4

I always prefer blue to red. But on these watches...

I like the one with red more. None of the proto style pieces were ever sold? Were there 2 protos with red? Your 2 photos have different bezels, I like the one in the first photo (which also appears different than the one with the blue accents, which does not have the steps). Thanks!

No, you had two different Extreme Lab II " Red ". If I remember well, only the second version had the Master Compressor written on the bezel. The definitive version didn't.

Now I have a doubt on the smooth bezel on the Red. I will have to check that.

I think the extreme lab text in the bezel only came on the prototypes in red and some of the early gold models

Mine in red Also ran into a blue one at an AD Aside from the bezel the most noticeable difference to me is the chrono hours subdial on the red is a brushed metal vs white on the blue and the function selector has a black background on the red version vs white on the blue. Overall the blue comes out feeling lighter and easier to read vs the red which is darker and more technical looking.

You are right. Here is the gold version.
