Nicolas, known as amanico on WatchProSite, revisits the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Extreme World Chronograph, a timepiece that ignited strong opinions upon its 2005 release. His original post delves into why this "punk rocker" of a watch, with its robust 46.3mm case and dual complications, represented a significant departure for the traditionally elegant brand. Nicolas's perspective offers valuable insight into a pivotal moment in JLC's modern history, showcasing a watch that challenged conventions and garnered a dedicated following.

My Old man owns a rose gold model for many years and it always amazes me when i see it .
Still one of my all time favorites, together with the the Master Compressor Geographic ;-) Even by nowadays measures unique pieces in design and quality.
I remember first seeing it on some website / magazine and being completely smitten. It wore reasonably well for such a big watch, for me better on the leather strap than the rubber as the rubber strap flared out at the lugs. The quick change strap system was pretty novel at that time. I still love the dial, it’s busy but I’m often pulled towards busier dials. There are several watches from this line which I still like.
and I think this is one heck of a punk rocker...
I thought the EWC was THE consummate sport watch. The coolest part of it, for me, was the shock-absorber system. That and the strap-change mechanism - dependent on the case and not the strap - were the 2 best features. I think the EWC was large for some, but not all. I still see 46mm Navitimers everywhere. Come on, JLC! Reboot the Compressors! -Dean
