Friends, many of you here may know about one of my main focus points
in collecting, the JLC Memovox series.
And that is pertinent to Vintage as well as to the modern models.

The last introduction by JLC, in the late months, centered on a new Master
series model, however with some distinct DNA from the 70ies, the times when a very
specific model, the Snowdrop E877 was flourishing.

I had ordered this new model, pretty much based on first released information about it
in late September 2016 and have been very much looking forward to the delivery,
which initially was scheduled before New Year, still in 2016.
But as this MMV is a Boutique Edition, delivery was a bit delayed initially.

This week now came the phone call from the Boutique, that my new
addition to my stables was ready for pickup. I had been really curious
how this new Memovox would be in the real, always an element
of some excitement, when a new piece is seen, is touched in the metal.

So, for here and as a start,I just wanted to share some few first pics
of my new Blue love.

The middle of this dial, a mid-blue inner disc with a solleille
brushing, catches the rays of light. - Really an amazing effect.
This is underlined by a darkblue circular margin on an opalline
surface and then the minuterie in grey-blue.

The whole design to me is that of a balanced beauty
but still of effortless charm, with some element
of sportiness. BTW, the strap made of dense textile
with blue stitching underlines this casual component.

Hope you liked these first impressions.
I do, a lot..

Best, hs

About the Jaeger LeCoultre Master Mariner Memovox Ref. E877

The Master Mariner Memovox reference E877 is a notable example of Jaeger-LeCoultre's alarm watch production from the late 1960s and early 1970s. This particular reference is distinguished by its robust case design and the integration of the Memovox alarm complication within the Master Mariner line, which was known for its more resilient construction. It represents a period when the brand was exploring more contemporary case shapes while maintaining its horological traditions.

This reference typically features a stainless steel case, often with a cushion or tonneau profile, measuring approximately 39mm in diameter. It houses an automatic winding movement, specifically the Caliber 916, which provides both timekeeping and the distinctive mechanical alarm function. The crystal is commonly acrylic, contributing to its period-correct aesthetic. The movement offers a power reserve suitable for daily wear.

For collectors, the E877 is appealing due to its distinctive aesthetic and the reliable Caliber 916. It offers a blend of practical complication and mid-century design, making it a sought-after piece for those interested in vintage Jaeger-LeCoultre alarm watches. Its variations in dial finish and case execution provide further collecting interest within the broader Memovox family.
